Note that as I’m writing this, it’s Tuesday night and I’ve studied for my two Wednesday exams just about as much as I can imagine studying for them. If I could (and if were certain I could stay awake), I’d probably take them right now just to be done. But I feel relatively confident, if quite drained, so I guess that’s a good thing.

After both my exams, though, I will be on spring break – and I am so very ready. I absolutely adore school and my friends and pretty much everything about Chicago, but there are a lot of things I’m looking forward to about my break. Let’s talk about those (in no particular order)!
- The food
I don’t think I’ve fully expressed how dissatisfied I am with UChicago’s food. It’s not a big deal, I guess, but I plan to thoroughly enjoy going out to eat, cooking, and baking while I am on break. Life is too short to not eat delicious things 😉
- Seeing my family
My parents are some of my best friends, and even though I talk to them quite a bit, it’s not the same as just relaxing with them and talking to them and seeing their faces. Also, we’re having a joint birthday party for me and my cousin on Saturday (okay, it’s mostly for him because he’s the littler one), so I’ll get to see grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. I love them all and can’t wait.
- (Maybe) seeing some old friends
Since UChicago is on the quarter system, my breaks are different than most of my friends’, whose schools operate on semesters. That said, I think I should be able to see at least one or two of my high school friends while I’m home, and that makes me happy.

There is nothing like the love a dog gives you. I’m so, so glad Pippa doesn’t “forget” me in my long, school-induced absences.
- Shopping
I will be both clothes shopping (spring clothes!) and grocery shopping (stock up for next quarter!), and I’m just really excited. I adore wandering around stores and looking at all the cool food and trying on all the cute clothes. Plus, I’m just happy that the weather is starting to warm up!
- New York
I’ll fill you in more when I know more, but I’ll be spending a few days during break in New York. I’m curious to see what I learn, and obviously ecstatic about the fact that it means I can try out some good New York food 😀
- Relaxing
Like I said, I adore school, but it is a little exhausting sometimes. This quarter totally flew by, and while I am eagerly anticipating the next one, I’m glad there is a bit of a break in between. I’d love some time to chill and cook and bake and read and write. Spring break sounds perfect for that!
What were/are your spring break plans (if you have one, that is)?
What are you looking forward to this week?

I don’t get a spring break unfortunately (I work at a college and all of our students are gone this week for their SB), but I’m looking forward to Saturday this week! It’s my only day off – phew!

Wow! You’re busy! Well, definitely enjoy your off-day and get some rest 🙂
I love wandering through stores too…so much fun even just window shopping (even better when you can justify buying something, lol!)!
Looking forward to this week so, SO much…going with my favorite people (my sibs 🙂 ) visit my cousins!! As you can tell, I’m super-excited! 😉
Haha somehow I almost always justify buying something 😉
Ahhh I get to see my cousins this weekend, too! Have fun! 🙂
I’m so jealous that you get to go to NY! I have a not-so-secret desire to visit someday, but since it’s all the way across the country from me, it seems highly unlikely! Have fun! =P
Thanks! I’m sure there’ll be pictures 🙂
