Hey hi hello! Happy Thanksgiving to my friends in the US and happy Thursday to everyone else!
After wrapping up some school stuff, I flew home yesterday afternoon and spent the evening shopping with my mom. Today, we’re headed out for a nice Thanksgiving lunch/dinner and some relaxation with my grandparents and great uncle. It’s a good day for some family time, but aren’t they all?
Anyway, today’s Thinking Out Loud is going to be a little different than usual and probably a little sappy, but bear with me! Holidays are a pretty good time for sappiness, if you ask me.
So anyway, today I’m thinking about just how thankful I am for so many things in my life.

To start, I live so comfortably. I have clothes and technology and warm, pretty things. I have an abundance of delicious food I get to eat daily. I have plenty of little nagging health issues, but I still get to consider myself healthy. I don’t need anything. That’s a wonderful thing to be able to say.
I have the opportunity to go to an incredible school and learn from ridiculously intelligent, passionate teachers and students every day. The people I’m surrounded with are interesting and impressive and so supportive. I may bemoan the fact that the future is uncertain, but the more positive spin on that is that it is wide open and I can fill it however I choose.
And the people. They’re what I’m most grateful for. People (like you!) take the time to read this blog and respond to the things I say. That is an endlessly gratifying feeling. Thank you. And at school, at other schools, and at home I have family and friends who tease and encourage me, who commiserate with and confide in me, who support and listen to me. They let me know they’re there for me when I need it most and when I least expect it. Basically, I feel a lot of love. And I’m really, really, really thankful for that.
So whether you’re celebrating Thanksgiving today or not, I hope you take a minute to think about some of the things that make your life just good. Because even when things are rough, there is so much to be thankful for.
Hug some people you love for me and eat a lot of delicious things and just enjoy this day.

Happy Thanksgiving, Ellen! So much to be thankful for! I definitely agree that the bulk of what I’m thankful for are the amazing people I’m blessed to have in my life.

People and relationships are such an important part of life ❤️
Happy Thanksgiving! I celebrated the holiday for the first time ever with my friends from the US on Saturday evening (as we don’t have the day off today in the UK) and it was a wonderful chance to reflect on how blessed I really am.
I was also introduced to some bemusing dishes (sweet potato with meringue on top as part of the main course!?) but had a fabulous time and I hope to make it something I celebrate every year from now on.
xx
It’s so cool that you celebrated with some US friends, even though you don’t usually celebrate. Everyone can take some time to recognize how lucky they are!
Haha yeah Thanksgiving food isn’t really my favorite, but I enjoy the holiday 🙂
Happy Thanksgiving sweetheart! xoxo
Thanks, Rebecca! I hope you had a great weekend 🙂
Have the happiest Thanksgiving, Ellen! It’s just a normal day for us up here in Canadaland, but every day is a good day to be thankful and enjoy delicious food 😀
I couldn’t agree more! 😀
I hope you’re having a wonderful Thanksgiving, Ellen! It’s not celebrated over here but we happen to have a family gathering this weekend so it might feel that way just a little.
I hope you enjoyed your family time 🙂
I love how self-aware you are of the blessed life you live. That is so so important! Happy Thanksgiving, Ellen. <3
Thanks, Julia! I hope you had a lovely weekend!
Happy Thanksgiving, Ellen!! We are celebrating half today and half on Saturday, because we are weird and non-traditional and like pizza for Thanksgiving dinner and all the pizza places are closed today. ? But I do like that there is still a time every year for us all to celebrate and take some time to think over the good things in life. Especially when it’s been rough or when you feel extra-down, it’s important to remember there’s always a reason everything happens in life, and keeping our eyes open to the blessings and the positives is one key to contentment. ? Have a great weekend!
Haha my mom and I kind of wanted to do pizza for Thanksgiving, but going out was pretty nice. Hope you had a great weekend!
This is so lovely 🙂
Thanks 🙂
