Hey hey! Happy Thinking Out Loud Thursday. I hope the week is treating you well and your house smells like Quick Skillet Spiced Pears.
We’ve been having a nice little Indian summer over here (though I think it’s supposed to end today…) and I’ve been getting into the swing of my real schedule. So, let’s join Amanda and talk about what’s happening in my life and mind lately.
1.) Last Friday, I sat for a grand total of 50 minutes between 8:30am and 3:15pm. I had a bunch of errands to run before my parents came to visit and was going the whole day. I fill my days pretty well, but I don’t have many quite that hectic.
2.) I refueled from my busy day appropriately with a pile of incredible pulled pork and a million sweet potato fries. I started my meal thinking I wasn’t crazy about the fries, but after a few I came to my senses and realized they were actually delicious.
Also, there was ice cream. Because Kilwins is the right way to the night.
3.) On Saturday morning, I volunteered to play with little kids while their parents explored campus during Family Weekend. I ended up running all around a field house for over an hour of my two-hour shift. The little girl I originally thought was super shy threw exercise balls for me to chase. Little kids have so much energy. Where do they get it? Where can I get some?
4.) And then my mom and I spent the afternoon shopping. It was tons of fun and I bought enough stuff to feel successful, but not so much that I felt like I overspent. And then I came back to the hotel and shopped online and maybe overspent a little bit. It’ll be fine.
5.) Sunday was my first long day of yoga teacher training. It was honestly a lot of fun and didn’t really feel as long as it was, but I need to pack more food than I did to get me through 6 hours.
{These are great in a pinch.}
We get a 30-minute break a few hours in, but I’d rather use that to walk around (lots of sitting in class) than grab food from a nearby restaurant, so packing it is a better option for me.
6.) By the end of Monday, I was all caught up on 4 weeks’ worth of readings for my new class. The midterm is this Monday. It’s actually kind of nice to not have a ton of time to worry about the exam. It’s equally scary to think about what I missed in the physical classes. Oh, well. My TA was reassuring at his office hours on Tuesday and I’m going to the professor’s office hours later today, so that should help me feel even better.
7.) I’ve spent the last few weeks trying to figure out my Thanksgiving flight plans. I have Financial Accounting till 4:30 on Wednesdays, and my original flight would require me to miss it, but the next flight would get me home at nearly midnight. Neither of those scenarios is exactly ideal, if you ask me. Yesterday, it hit me that the same teacher teaches the same class at the same time on Tuesdays. I’m totally free then, so I can still go to class and make a flight that gets me home at a reasonable hour. Problem solved. No class-skipping necessary. 😉
8.) When I returned to the dorm from the gym yesterday morning, I opened the door to the vestibule and was greeted by a teeny bird hopping around. I was about to enter the building when I realized it, so instead of going inside, I tried to let it out through the outside door. It had just flown into the window in that direction, so I thought it would be no problem, but this was a stubborn and stupid bird.
The nice lady who works the front desk in the mornings looked at me like I was crazy, since she couldn’t see the bird and I was generally waving at the ground. When I went inside and explained, she sort of freaked out. We tried to get it to go outside for another five minutes. It wouldn’t. We gave up and I went upstairs to take a shower and make breakfast. When I came back down for class a couple hours later, the bird had left. Everything in its own time.
9.) Part of yoga teacher training is taking 60 yoga classes, with as many as possible being during the 8 weeks of the training classes. This means #yogaeverydamnday… and that I’m going to be sore for the foreseeable future.
10.) And now I want to leave you with some of my favorite recipes + reads from the week.

Your turn:
Did/do you skip class in college?
What’s the last thing you bought? Bananas, sweet potatoes, and almond milk. I can’t be out of those things. The last non-food things were a few dresses and OSU shirts.

OMG I want those fries and that sandwich on my boddddyyyyy. No wonder you are sore… you are literally never sitting down! We will work on some recovery stuff. Next week, we will take a major cutback week to let everyone get back to normal.
And 4 weeks of reading and immediately into a midterm. Well, if anyone can do it, it is you 😀

Lol if you’re not opposed, our next dinner trip can be to Porkchop and you can experience the food for yourself ?
How did I miss those skillet pears!?I have been obsessed with pears lately!! Also loving that yoga shirt!
They’re so good and SO easy! Definitely one of my favorite ways to eat pears these days!
When I was in school, nearly every class was cancelled the day or two leading up to Thanksgiving – I think they just figured everyone would skip. Also, that sandwich? Give me. Pretzel bun!!
I think my friends at semester schools have more time off, but they squeeze as many days out of a quarter as they can ?
WAHOO! So glad you found a way to solve the flight problem for Thanksgiving. 🙂 And that bird. 😀 Animals keep us smiling or make us frustrated some times.
Kilwin’s ice cream looks SO GOOD. Nothing can beat a nice big cup of delicious ice cream.
Ice cream is my favorite way to end the day ?
Sooo I need all of this food… the SP fries, the pears, the pork and the Rx bars! Or at least I need to go find a snack now. 😛
The last thing I bought was groceries last weekend, including brussel sprouts and I know I already went and commented on the actual recipe buuuuut we made your recipe and it was so good. I am a brussel sprouts convert now!
Lol reading blogs makes me hungry too.
Ahhh I know I already said it but that makes me so happy! I’m glad you loved them!
Caught up on four weeks ALREADY?! Go girl! I knew you could do it!
Hmm the last thing I bought was a new Zumba card as I’d used up all the lessons on my last one!
