Happy Thursday! I’ve had a super busy last couple of days and I’m exhausted, but my mind is full and since I shared a meal planning post on Monday, we haven’t talked about the weekend. Let’s catch up via some Thinking Out Loud. Thanks for the link-up, Amanda!
1.) On Saturday, I figured a nice, relaxing thing to do would be get a massage. I was crazy tight – even more so than usual. I called in the morning to see if the Massage Envy I go to here had an appointment. They could fit me in at 5 pm, and I was happy with that.
Well, it wasn’t the best massage. First, the masseuse hardly listened to my direction, so the time she was massaging me wasn’t all that beneficial. Second, when I went to turn over, the masseuse somehow moved her arm down just as I moved up, smacking me hard directly on the nose… and causing a nosebleed halfway through my massage. Tending to that with one hand while trying to hold a blanket up around me with the other certainly wasn’t relaxing. Consequently, I got about two-thirds of a so-so massage. Blah.
2.) The bright side is that the Massage Envy is within walking distance of Target. Naturally, I made a little detour afterward and enjoyed browsing around for a bit.
3.) I found these chocolate bars while I was there!
They’re pretty big, as chocolate bars go (okay, they’re not tons bigger than a Hershey bar…) ,so I figured they’d last a while. Nah. They were each a one-sitting affair. I ❤️ chocolate.
4.) To make up for my less-than-fabulous massage on Saturday and to satisfy my yoga craving, I went to a C2 CorePower yoga class on Sunday.
It was amazing, and now I want to go back every single day. I’m sure that the warmth (it’s a heated yoga class, if you’re unfamiliar) wouldn’t appeal to me quite as much in the middle of July, but it did help loosen me up and it really doesn’t feel too bad when it’s cold outside.
5.) Speaking of cold outside… yeah, it’s gotten pretty bad this week. I’ve been wearing chunky sweaters, thick socks, boots, a hat, half-inch thick gloves, a scarf, and a pretty big coat. And they overheat the buildings, so going from inside to outside is not the most fun thing ever. ?
6.) Much of my busyness the last few days has been learning to code in R.
I knew a tiny bit of Java before Tuesday, and since then I’ve done two assignments in R. It’s fun to learn and play with, but not when you’re against a deadline.
7.) Aaaand that deadline made yesterday kind of icky and stressful. But today will be better!
Have a fabulous day!
What crazy awesome stuff would you put in a chocolate bar?
Thoughts on hot yoga?
Do you know how to code?
Anything else I should know?

Yea, that massage experience needs a re-do! I’ve never had a massage, but I’ve kind of built it up in my mind, so maybe I should go in with lower expectations when I do.
But yay chocolate!
EllenSlater says
Haha they can be really nice, just not that one. And yes – always chocolate!
Smoked paprika chocolate :O <3
Massages freak me out….I don't think I ever want to get one! Hahaha!
The chocolate was so good!

Ooh, I LOVE massages. 🙂
YES.
I had to learn R for my statistics class and I am happy to report I have forgotten it all. I would be pissed if that took up valuable space in my brain that could be used for deciding what would taste good in chocolate bars. I’ve had dark chocolate covered potato chips and they we the bomb! I’m also not opposed to Oreos in chocolate or salty nuts in chocolate. The only thing for me is the chocolate cannot be too dark. I think when people say they love 90% dark chocolate they are crazy! That tastes terrible! I am a 65% girl for life. I also (gasp) love white chocolate
Hahaha I’m a darkdarkdark chocolate person, but I can do lighter as well. I even like white when mixed with salty stuff!
Whaaaaat?!? Now that’s definitely not the way massages are supposed to go! I’ve only ever had one massage done, and it was more for therapy when some of the muscles in my back seized up on me and were causing me all sorts of problems. Needless to say, that was more of a painful experience than a pleasurable one 😆
Riiight? It wasn’t good. I think most of my massages are a little painful, but they usually still feel good.
My dad is a software engineer, but no, I don’t know how to code. At. all. Funny, I guess it’s like the whole cobbler’s kids thing…I never needed to, plus it’s so way beyond distasteful to me, I’d do anything so I wouldn’t have to. I really, really want to try a yoga class, and hot yoga sounds especially appealing in the dead of winter.
Those chocolate flavors sound a little funky, but if you liked them, I’m sure they were good! Probably I would do my favorite (if a bit overboard as well as typical) sweet combo of pretzels, caramel, peanut butter and dark chocolate (maybe coconut too? Is that too much? Probably…but that’s me for you!). ?
You can put as much as you want in a chocolate bar! No such thing as too much!
I love hot yoga! Love being in the heat and it always makes me feel 10x more relaxed and refreshed after.
I felt so good afterward!
That’s a huge bummer about your massage! I’ve only ever had a prenatal massage and I’m not sure if it was just because I was able to lay on my front for over an hour, but it was amazing. I suggest writing in to the company – they’ll probably comp you a new one!
Oh my goodness, I somehow hadn’t thought about the fact that when you’re pregnant you can’t lie on your stomach. That is the only way I ever sleep. LOL that might be a problem ? Good thing I have some time before that happens… And yeah, I think I’ll call the manager tomorrow and see if they can do anything about that 🙂
I had to do some R and Matlab for my degree but soon realised that me and any form of coding are not friends!
The Chili Chocolate looks interesting but I would probably avoid the BBQ Potato Chip offering.
xx
I definitely am not the best coder in the world.
Okay, WHAT does the BBQ chips chocolate bar taste like?! I’m intrigued. I love BBQ chips and I love dark chocolate. Never thought of the two together. Do tell! Do I need to make a run for Target?
The potato flavor was super subtle and it was just nice and smoky-salty-sweet. If you like BBQ chips, I’d recommend it 🙂
that massage sounds awful. i’ve had pretty good experiences with massage envy in columbus! hopefully it was a fluke there.
also, there are 2 CorePowers opening in columbus this week. i’m so excited!
I think it was. I’ve had great ones in Columbus! And YAY. I hope I’m back there for the summer. I took another class tonight and they’re so nice! You’re in Cleveland, though, right?
