Before I forget, thank you for all the get-well wishes on yesterday’s post. I appreciate the thoughts a lot, and I’m doing all the “right” things to make sure this cold goes away soon. Otherwise, this week has been fairly low-key, which is much appreciated. Regularly scheduled readings and assignments make for a nice change of pace after midterms. 🙂 And now, let’s get to the thinking out loud, where I tell you the random thoughts floating around my head this week. Thanks for the link-up, Amanda!
1.) I’ve been telling you all about the nice weather lately, right? Well, apparently that’s changing. My umbrella nearly snapped in the windy rain yesterday, and apparently it’s supposed to snow this weekend? Someone said 3-6 inches? What?!?
2.) On Tuesday night, I made a giant pot of chili.
{Apologies for the lighting. No natural light after 4 pm here.}
Soup seemed like a delicious sick-person, cold-weather kind of meal, and now I have a ton of leftovers. It’s wonderful.
3.) Aside from being warm and comforting, I’m pretty sure the whole point of soup and chili is that you can top it with cheese and basically eat it with a bunch of crackers or tortilla chips – no spoon necessary. I’ve been eating it with Nut Thins, which are sturdy enough for scooping giant bites and add the perfect salty touch.
4.) Somehow Thanksgiving is next week? And I only have another week and a half of actual classes before finals? Where does time go?
5.) On that note, I’ll be home in a week! That’s pretty cool. I’m looking forward to shopping and seeing my dog and being in my own kitchen. Oh, and seeing my family. Right. That. 😉
6.) I forgot how much I like editing things. Is that weird? I love writing, obviously, but editing your own writing is different than helping other people develop theirs. I was an editor for my high school newspaper and now for Spoon University, and I really enjoy breaking down writing and looking for ways to improve it.
7.) We’ve talked about this before, but clouds are so cool.
Yesterday was mostly a disgustingly rainy, windy day. The clouds in the evening were kind of amazing, though.
8.) Once upon a time, I went to camp for three weeks after sixth grade. Ever since leaving camp around eight years ago, I’ve shared a journal and a charm bracelet with three other girls from different places across the country.
We write life updates to each other in the journal and send it between us at fairly irregular intervals. I haven’t seen them since camp, but I love keeping up with them. We all four go to different schools and have very different life experiences, but getting that package in the mail is one of my favorite feelings. I got it earlier this week!
Crackers or chips?
Do you have any pen pals?
Anything I should know from your week?

Our weather recently just turned here as well. We didn’t have a speck of snow (which is really weird for us considering it usually snows by the end of October), but this morning I woke up to a nice little layer of the white stuff. Maybe now I’ll be able to get into the holiday spirit a little more, because so far it’s been rough!

Wishing you some holiday spirit! And snow! And maybe some time snowboarding 🙂

I think clouds are so AWESOME to watch. It’s especially cool when you are up in the mountains looking down into the clouds. God is an AWESOME Creator!
I love the mountains!
Weirdly I really don’t like editing my own work, and usually don’t 😛 But I used to always read over and edit my friends’ papers when I was in school and really enjoyed it!
Haha I prefer editing others’ work than my own, too.
I am on the precipice of a cold myself, so I would love some of that soup! Send some my way? 😉
Crackers for me!
Take care of yourself! I hope you avoid illness.
I like crackers, but I LOVE chips 😀 The ruffles sour cream and cheddar ones are so good!!!
I love cheddar chips 🙂
Girl, Spoon University rocks! Such fun stuff there!
And omg snow!? :O We are getting pounded with inches of rain today, but thankfully it’s still “warm”.
And I’m totally a cracker person!
It’s such a fun publication 🙂 Haha we got some of that rain earlier this week. Stay dry!
That journal is such an amazing idea! I’m still in touch with the people I went on Duke of Edinburgh Expedition with but I’m afraid Facebook is our main method of communication…
Facebook is convenient. I love how easy it is to stay in touch with people with technology!
I definitely love chips! The best thing is to dip salt and vinegar chips in butternut squash soup. It’s so good! I do have a pen pal and we send each other care packages at really irregular intervals. It’s fun to get something every once in a while and I love it when I remember to send her something. She’s a wonderful person I will never forget 🙂
I’ve never tried that combo, but it sounds tasty!! Your pen pal sounds so fun 🙂
Both crackers AND chips!! Oh, don’t make me choose!! ? I’ll pass on pasta and rice though…just give me all the chips, crackers and bread!!
I have had many pen pals in the past, but I guess I must’ve been to doggedly persistent or something, because they pretty much all gave up on me. ? Now, I mostly exert my pesky tendencies to obsessively text all my favorite people. ?
I. Love. Bread. The end. 😀
I love your little journal pen pal idea – and I love that you’ve kept it going for so long! I had a penpal when I was younger, however, for some reason or another we just stopped writing eachother!
I love snail mail so I will often send cards to our friends (especially those that don’t live locally or who we don’t see much) as I love the feeling of getting mail (and hope others do too! haha)
I love getting mail – that’s such a sweet idea. I might need to start doing something like that 🙂
