Hi there and happy Thinking Out Loud Thursday! Long time no chat. How’s your week been going? I’m honestly a little bit all over the place this week. It’s been a pretty good one so far, but I feel like I’m not accomplishing much and I’m thinking I’ll try to gain some of my productivity back this weekend and make next week a tad more normal. Fortunately, today is the perfect time to unload some of my random thoughts. Thanks to Amanda for the link-up!
1.) It rained a lot a couple of days ago. It was much needed. And it resulted in this:
A double rainbow! <– If you haven’t seen that video… it’s pretty funny 🙂
2.) Since there was a bit of a mishap with the oven door this weekend (and I was busier), I didn’t bake as much as I have been. The horror. Not really, but I seriously regretted not having made anything all that chocolatey. I wanted chocolate. Tuesday morning, I made these. Anything “quintuple chocolate” is pretty much made for me, and these definitely didn’t disappoint. I think I got ~38 cookies out of the recipe with my medium cookie scoop. They’re almost gone. If you need easy, super-rich chocolate cookies, make them!!!
3.) On Tuesday, we also had an exterminator come out because we have spiders everywhere, despite living in a nice house in a suburban neighborhood. Yes, spiders are normal. No, spiders on the porch, in the garage, in the basement, and in my bathroom are not normal. And yes, it’s just my bathroom. My shower, specifically. They hang out in the corners and crawl into the poorly-installed wall whenever I try to remove them. It’s (not) a fun game. The exterminator promised to get rid of them. I’m going to hold him to that.
4.) So yes. I’ve totally craved chocolate and doughy carbs this week. I went to Panera on Tuesday night with my friends Sanjana and Rediate and figured I’d get some of the carbs I’ve been wanting in the form of an Asiago cheese bagel. They were out, but I still really wanted a bagel. Here’s the exchange that followed:
Me: “… and a sesame seed bagel, please.”
Employee: “Cinnamon raisin?”
Me: “Sesame seed.”
Employee: “Cinnamon.”
Me: “There’s that sesame seed one over there.”
Employee: “Cinnamon raisin.”
Me: “N- Ya know, sure. I’ll have the cinnamon raisin.”
I got a bagel out of the exchange. That was the goal, right?
5.) My dog magically knows who is going to walk in the door before we do. How do I know? When it’s me, she stays wherever she is and looks unimpressed as I enter. When it’s my mom, she bounds from wherever she is and greets her excitedly. I’m not feelin’ the love, Pippa.
6.) Look at how pretty the clouds are!
Yesterday was a really stunning day.
7.) And that stunning day included Dirty Rice Stuffed Peppers from Iowa Girl Eats.
The lighting… not so good. The meal? Delicious. The filling is amazing enough to eat on its own. It’s packed with andouille sausage, which is my favorite. I used a package of Aidell’s. I am kind of picky about sausage (it’s a texture thing), but I have absolutely loved every variety of Aidell’s I’ve tried!
8.) This was trending on Twitter yesterday: Are You Harry, Ron, or Hermione?
I knew the answer. I had to take it anyway.
That’s all for me today. Have a wonderful day!
What are your feelings on spiders? I’m not afraid of them… but I’d really rather not shower with them.
Do you think you’re most like Harry, Ron, or Hermione?
Any random things I should know?

As a Panera employee, I will say Tuesdays are the worst day to get bagels. People come in early in the morning to get in on the $6.99 dozen deal. The cinnamon raisin is one of my favorites- so at least you got a pretty good deal!
I actually just began to re-read the Harry Potter series, my ultimate childhood fav!

Enjoy the re-read! I love Harry Potter 🙂
Love me some Harry Potter. Panera was the first job I had when I was 16, and I’m so confused why they just wouldn’t give you the sesame?
Haha either she really didn’t understand what I was saying or she was saving that last sesame for herself 😉
I love that double rainbow video as well!
When it comes to spiders… let me combine it with your Harry Potter question, and we can call me a serious case of Ron Weasley.
Your Panera exchange was hilarious, I’d love to know if the employee was just trying to get you to buy something else or seriously could just NOT understand :P.
Not a fan of the spiders, eh? Don’t blame ya one bit!
I mean, there were a ton of cinnamon ones left and only one sesame… But she understood everything else I said, so I was super confused. 😛
Spiders in the bathroom? Ooooooooh man. One of my biggest fears actually used to be that there would be a spider hiding in my toilet bowl 😆 I kind of grew out of that one, but the idea still gives me the heebie jeebies. Hopefully they’ll be able to get rid of them for you!
A long time ago, that spider-in-the-toilet thing happened to my mom. I think I checked every toilet for one for a year before I realized that was a rarity… Still a creepy thought!
Stuffed peppers!! YUM! I want to make those soon!! …and look at you! I Love that you just opted for the cinnamon raisin bagel! 🙂 That’s awesome! …and that rainbow is beautiful!!
The stuffed peppers were awesome! Highly recommend 😀
Spiders are kind of neutral for me. I mean, it’s a hassle/pain to get rid of them, but they don’t really freak me out unless they’re huge. Ick. Then I call my brother. 😉
I’ve never read/watched Harry Potter, so I have no idea who I am most like. Last weekend, though, I did a similar thing and took a “What Hundred Acre Wood character are you?” even though I already knew: Pooh. 😛 (Though I probably have a good dose of Rabbit in there, too…)
That double rainbow is gorgeous; thanks for sharing! Also, ALL the chocolate. I am super-craving chocolate right this minute (which is up from my usual state of being of just normally craving chocolate all the time, lol! 😛
I’m now the same way about spiders. They used to seriously scare me!
Haha I would guess I’m some weird combo of Rabbit and Owl.
Thanks, Hannah! And yeah… chocolate craving for me are just like extra chocolate cravings. I always want chocolate!
Uhh, no, I don’t like spiders. As I told the kids we babysit the other day, I hate wasps WAY worse, but I’m don’t like spiders either. And showering with them… *shudders* Although I do love rinsing bugs down the drain if I can… My favorite way to kill bugs is drowning them; that way I know for sure they are dead and won’t crawl out of the tissue in the garbage. Anyway, gorgeous photos of the rainbows and clouds! I am so jealous of your wide, open landscape… <3
I DROWN MINE, TOO. I would not be okay with them coming out of my trash can. Nope. And thanks for the photo compliments! But if we’re talking about wide open spaces… it’s all about the angle. If I turned 180°, you’d see a bunch of suburban houses 😉
Not a big fan of spiders, but there was actually a huge cockroach in my dorm room this morning and I was freaking out! #1 downside of not having a roommate = no one to obliterate the bugs for me 😉
And haha about your bagel story- I probably would’ve given up after 3 tries, too!
I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a cockroach… but I’m okay with that!
Rainbows are probably the only reason I like rain, haha!
When it comes to spiders, I’m not terrified of them but I don’t like them. When I was younger I would scream and freak out – then I realised it was quicker and safer to squish them (is that awful!?!?!)
I used to be the same way about spiders… and now I’m just like you. Though, I must admit that drowning is my preferred method of spider disposal if it’s possible. I’m always afraid they’ll escape death if I try to squish them.
