Hello, lovely people and happy Thinking Out Loud Thursday! Much thanks to Amanda for giving me the opportunity to tell you all the random things on my mind toward the end of this week. Let’s get to it!
1.) Due to shopping for two of my cousins’ birthdays, I’ve been to the American Girl store twice in the last week. That store turns me into an eight-year old girl who would like every doll and overpriced accessory. I do have seven (?) dolls from when I was little, but… would one more really hurt? 😉 Or even just the baking set? I love those dolls.
2.) Speaking of birthdays, isn’t this the cutest Little Mermaid cake?
And it tasted pretty great, too. It was yummy, dense chocolate cake.
3.) My car is making a habit of scaring me. Even after checking and adding air to my tires, it insists my tire pressure is off and a little light flashes “maint req’d” about 50% of the time I turn on the car. Apparently maintenance is required… so I should probably take that in to get looked at tomorrow.
4.) See, I would go take my car in today, but I have an eye doctor appointment after work. I have horrific eyesight and it just keeps getting worse. Also, I fell in love with a pair of glasses the other day when we went to get my mom new sunglasses, so I’m contemplating getting those. Currently, despite being the right prescription, my glasses give me a headache if I wear them for more than an hour. If my eye doctor can tell me why and convince me that this new pair won’t do the same, I’ll be getting some new glasses.
5.) My parents and I have various plans all throughout this week, meaning our family dinners this week are kind of limited.
We enjoyed some blackened fish tacos on Taco Tuesday together a couple nights ago, and it was messy and delicious. That is, it was exactly as it should be. 🙂
6.) I may have mentioned that finding time to see my friends has been a challenge this summer. Last night I met up with another friend I somehow hadn’t seen since last summer for some catch-up time over dinner. It was fun and overdue and so very necessary.
7.) It seems so funny that most people I know start school within the next two or three weeks. I have to see them while I can! I still have about a month and a half until I leave for Chicago again. That said, I know the time will fly.
And that’s all for me today! Have a fabulous Thursday, everybody!

Mind blown…did not know you had glasses! Do you wear contacts too?
My brother needs contacts, my mom just needs glasses for reading things, I however, am 100% 😉
If I were to eat cake, chocolate of course or carrot cake! <— always! Carvel Ice cream cake was always a favorite too!
Tacos are always so good! I'm planning a taco bowl dinner tonight actually! Just all the goodness thrown in a lazy bowl 😉

Oh, I wear contacts all right. I can’t see a thing without some help 😛 I’m mostly in search of glasses because sometimes my eyes get dry/tired with contacts and glasses would give them a break.
I haven’t had carrot cake forever! I love it, though. I should make some soon…
That’s always a good way to go 🙂 Enjoy!
That cake is too cute! My birthday is in December, and I know what cake I’m asking fooorrr! Also, I used to pour over the American Girl catalog for WEEKS as a little girl (do they even do catalogs anymore? Am I super dating myself?) and I pity my husband if we ever have a girl.
I used to get that catalog! I LOVED IT. Haha if I have a girl, she’s getting my dolls – and you can bet I’ll be playing with them, too!
I’m totally blind as a bat. I’ve thought about Lasik but don’t know if I could fully make the commitment. And plus, surgery on my eye balls scares me! Best taco – seared ahi tuna, cabbage, cilantro, salsa, guac, and lime juice. Not specific at all : ) Have a fabulous day!
My eye doctor recommended that I wait until after college (a lot of eye strain with all that reading) to consider it. I hope it works out, even though it scares me, too! That taco sounds perfect. Yum! Thanks, Jamie – I hope you had a lovely day!
My mom tells me that I actually had an American Girl doll growing up. I specifically remember naming her Cobra (yes, as in the snake).
My favorite kind of cake would have to be ice-cream cake :P.
I actually posted about getting my new glasses in my latest post- I am nearsighted and anything beyond a certain distance required me to strain. As much as I hate glasses, wearing them really makes me realize how many details I am actually not seeing!
I love ice cream cake… and ice cream anything 😉
Every single time I get my prescription updated, I realize how much I haven’t been seeing. It’s so crazy!
Yikes on the car! That can be really scary. There is nothing worse, in my opinion, than having one of the warning lights lit up on the dashboard. I hope you are able to get it checked out soon, and that it is nothing serious!
That cake is adorable and those fish tacos look so delicious!
What a coincidence that you’re a U of C student! I used to work there, my husband got his MBA there, two of my best friends did their undergrad there, etc., etc., etc. Small world, eh? I hope your back-to-school preparations are going well!!!
What a small world, though I guess the internet makes it a little smaller. That’s really cool! Thanks, Emily! I’m getting ready to go back slowly but surely 🙂
I have crazy bad eyesight… to the point where, unless something is about 5 inches from my face, I won’t be able to read it. I’ve needed glasses since I was about 10 years old, but usually just go with contacts of the sake of convenience. And chocolate cake will always and forever be my favourite. More so if it’s Black Forest 😀
I wear contacts 99% of the time because they are so convenient – no sweat/glare/breakage concerns! And you have to love a good chocolate cake – so classic 😀
Funny you should mention eyesight. I’ve been having increasing trouble with my eyes, and even got reading glasses, but no matter what I try, it seems that my eyes are just super-sensitive, especially when it comes to dealing with electronic devices or high-contrast environments (like watching a movie in a dark room). So far that’s all I’ve been able to figure out, and it’s become quite the balancing act! 😉 Hope you figure out your eye problems!! 🙁
I’m not big into cake, being more of a cookie/ice cream/brownie person myself. But, if I were to have cake, it’d be chocolate, as dense and fudge-y (or as brownie-like 😛 ) as possible. 😉 Unless ice cream cake counts…that was my traditional birthday cake growing up, I loved it so much! Also not much into actual tacos, though I have a huge weakness for loaded nachos…ALL the toppings please!! And all the guacamole I can eat! 🙂
Well, not much for today…just that it looks like our friend’s going to have her baby today, so my sister and I are off to watch the rest of her kiddos for her. Should be interesting, as I’ve never done this before.
I’m generally the same with desserts, but I still don’t generally turn down cake (#sweettoothproblems). Oh, I love making nachos! It’s been too long, so I should probably get on that pretty soon. 🙂
Have fun with all the kids!!
