Happy Thinking Out Loud Thursday. Thanks to Amanda for giving me the chance to spill all the random thoughts floating around my head toward the end of this wonderfully busy week. Let’s get to it!
1.) I’m going home today! And I’m taking a suitcase that’s much too large for three days, so I’m taking back some stuff (mostly clothes) that I won’t be needing in the next month. Our dorm finally turned on the air conditioning yesterday, so I’m pretty sure my snow boots and heavy sweaters won’t be necessary. 😉
{And I could fit so much more… but it’s only three days!}
But a giant suitcase means I can bring more food back with me, so this is actually a very good plan.
2.) After kind of a lot of planning and scheming and sketching out all the possible living situations for next school year, we had our housing selection on Tuesday night. And what happened was not one of my plans at all, but that’s more than okay, and I’m actually kind of excited. I’m living in a dorm apartment with three other girls in my house. This means my (okay, our) own kitchen! And bathroom! This is excellent, and I think we’re all pretty excited. 😀 It also means I’ve been stressing out over nothing for about two weeks, but hey, I do that sometimes.
3.) Do interviews ever get fun? Or do you just always nervously dread the awkwardness of asking someone to judge you? Anyone? Insider tips?
4.) These 50 Simple Mini-Habits That Actually Help With Anxiety are excellent. I don’t think they just apply to anxiety, exactly. Rather, most of them would be great any time you want some ways to take better care of yourself or just take a break.

5.) I am so unprepared for summer. And by that I mostly mean I hate the heat and it’s already supposed to be 85°F when I get home. Slow down, summer – it’s only May!
6.) Made me smile.

7.) I’m going to go enjoy my last evening here for the week. I’ll be back with some favorites tomorrow. Have a lovely day!
Do you overpack? I think the answer for me is pretty clear…
Nutella – yay or nay?
Any other random thoughts I should know about?

Glad to be home 🙂
I loved going home when I was in school because I would steal all the free food 😉 best plan!
Yessss. The food is the (second) best part of being home 😀
Have the best time at home! And I always leave room in my suitcase when I travel so that I can bring back more food… Especially when I’m going to the States because you guys get so much more stuff than we do up here!
I brought the extra big suitcase 😉 Thanks, Amanda!
I always do our packing and your grandpa always says the same thing—“Don’t take more than we need”. I think I do a pretty good job.
You must! If you didn’t, he wouldn’t let you keep doing it 🙂
That is so exciting you found a place to live next year! Having a kitchen will make such a difference. 🙂
I’m looking forward to reading that article on helpful tips for anxiety. Thanks for sharing! And I totally agree with you about the summer heat– I’m not ready for 80 degree temps! :/
Have a safe trip home!
It’s so nice! And it’s in my current dorm, which I love, so that’s great. AND a kitchen. So excited!!
No problem – I hope you find some you like 🙂
It is going to be 87 today. Why?!?
Have a great weekend!!
Over-packer, through and through…so, so guilty. Though I like to think I’m prepared? I look so ridiculous walking the streets or across the airport, looking like I’m traveling overseas, what with my great big huge over-stuffed duffel, and the visual gets even worse when you add into the picture that I’m often carrying my pillow too (it’s special…’cause it’s comfy and it’s mine, and apparently even though I’m approaching my mid-twenties, I still need to have special stuff to sleep with 🙂 ). Oh yes, and my lunch bag, because one can never be without food… So definitely; I’m an over-packer extraordinaire, Ellen! 😛
I don’t even know how you can hate the heat…actually, I can, because I used to, too. I always said when it’s cold, you can always bundle up more, but you can only do so much against the heat. Too many cold summers in a row have kind of changed my mind about heat/summer and now I am of the constant opinion that summer is always way too short. 😉
Flow charts are so funny… 😀 I like Nutella, but it’s not a super-love, just pretty good. Other nut butters rank WAY higher. 😛
Random musings…
1) I hate miscommunications, and lately I’ve been experiencing them a lot, so this is becoming a sort of mantra for me. 😉
2) My sister totally rocks at doing laundry!! My mom, sisters and I went on a shopping spree earlier this week and she already has almost all of our new clothes washed…I <3 new clothes!
3) I promised my little brother awhile back that I'd take him on a froyo date one afternoon after lunch (we both share a passionate love of froyo!)…I am thinking it's about time to make good on that promise! 😉
Have a great time with your parents!!
I overpack. Yep. Bring ALL the things!
That’s how I feel about heat… but I do get chilly easily. I just wrap myself in a blanket/hoodie and it’s all good.
Other nut butters > Nutella. <-- Not the most popular opinion, but I definitely agree! 1.) Aw. I hope you work stuff out. Miscommunications are not fun. 2.) Yay! I love little surprises like that. 😀 3.) That's so cute! Have fun with your brother - and eat some froyo for me 🙂 Thanks, Hannah! Have a great weekend!
I used to over pack A LOT, but over time, I’ve gotten better, and only over pack a little. Now when I over pack, it’s mostly “just in case”. You never know what is going to happen and you might need a change of clothes!
Nutella…hmm, that is a difficult question, as I haven’t had it in a while. I used to love it, and I crave it every once in a while. I should have it again, so I can reassess it. 😛 😉
I only have a couple things on my mind today, because #1 has been at the top of it:
1. My dog has been acting weird for the last two nights. He will be completely normal during the day, even going to bed is fine. But then in the middle of the night, for no apparent reason, he will get up out of his bed, and sit/down rigidly on the floor. He will flatly refuse to go to his bed (even with peanut butter as a lure <- what's up with that?!), and even up on our beds (his special treat), he won't calm down. We thought maybe the foster puppies woke him up, but they were asleep when we were up, and he's never done this with previous foster puppies. So I'm stumped and tired. All day I've been thinking, "What the heck is wrong with my dog?" and, "What on earth am I going to do about it if he doesn't snap out of it?" (We have a game plan for the next couple of nights, and hopefully it will all work out!)
2. There is a difference between something looking like it *should* work, and it actually working – especially if it is the "tear here" spot on packaging.
3. I <3 almonds. I probably way OD-ed on them today, but I don't care. Almond milk, whole nuts and almond butter…couldn't be happier!
I think that’s the healthy kind of overpacking 😉
1.) Aww. I hope you figure out what’s up with the dog!! It’s so annoying that they don’t have words to just tell you what’s wrong 🙁
2.) YES. That’s so frustrating!! Usually the real “tear point” is like an inch and a half away from “tear here”. Why?
3.) Almonds are great and delicious and so versatile. I 100% agree 😀
