Happy, happy Monday! I hope your weekend was lovely, because a.) everyone deserves lovely weekends, and b.) mine certainly was!
Admittedly, I did quite a bit of studying and paper-editing and then some more studying (and then a little more paper-editing). Still, I managed to have fun with friends while being somewhat productive and get in some downtime to just chill.
And… I also got a couple sweet surprises, starting on Saturday.
I received six lovely boxes of various amazing cookies and candies from Cheryl’s from a fabulous group of friends from high school. And then I got another package notification.
Another six boxes, this time from my parents. And they were full of “bundtinis” from Nothing Bundt Cakes. Oh, man.
Now, I will be the first to tell you that I don’t really like cake that much. Will I eat it? Duh. But usually, I’d take a cookie or a brownie or ice cream over cake. And frosting? Forget it – it’s usually way too sweet. All of that said, I 100% recommend these cakes and this frosting. The cakes were red velvet, chocolate, peanut butter chocolate chip, lemon, and white chocolate raspberry, and they were all topped with the most incredible cream cheese frosting.
Fortunately, I have plenty of (very grateful) people to share such deliciousness with, and they all loved the treats from my family and friends (almost) as much as I did. All of this dessert made me feel better about the fact that I realized I needed to do some extra studying and forgo baking pie on Pi Day.
If I didn’t receive enough sugar on Saturday, my roommate fixed that problem on Sunday morning.
But it was super sweet and I was insanely grateful. Nothing like coming back from the gym to chocolate + breakfast. 🙂
Aside from Facetiming my parents and my aunt and cousins, the rest of my birthday was spent studying with friends and eating with friends and taking long walks in the beautiful weather. And maybe that seems kind of un-fun, but I really did enjoy it. Maybe that’s weird, but I guess I’ve always like low-key celebrations.
Ultimately, I felt extremely loved, and that made even my working birthday feel like a pretty special one.
Cake or frosting?
Cake or a different dessert entirely?
What’s making you feel loved lately?
How was your weekend?
Grandma says
I really prefer pie over cake- apple, cherry, pecan, peanut butter cream.
Talking to son, daughter, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter always remind me that I am loved. Grandpa helps out, too.
Rather lazy weekend, but this afternoon (at about 60 degrees), your grandpa and I picked up two big trash bags of ugly litter. We started at the tree line to the east and down at the bottom of Bridgewater property to the west. Both sides of the road. People can be disgusting.
Then we cleaned a very dirty (from snow/salt/grime) garage floor.
Very productive.
Now I am enjoying an awesome sunset!!!
Love you, Grandma

Well, that does sound very productive! Love you. Thanks for the card and the call. See you Saturday!
Happy (late) birthday, Ellen!! Glad you had a great day, even if you did have to work. 😐
Definitely NOT a cake person…give me cookies, ice cream, pudding, froyo
Oops…that posted on accident!! As I was saying, give me ALL the cookies, ice cream, pudding, froyo…but I could basically take or leave cake. Homemade frosting could entice me, though… 😛
My aunt made me feel super loved the other day by randomly texting me an “I love you” text…it *was* a sweet surprise! 😉
My weekend was pretty great! I got to do some blogging, plus hanging out with/playing with the family as usual. 🙂
Thank you! 😀
I love random texts; it’s always nice to think that someone was just thinking about how awesome you are 😉
Yay! Hooray for lovely weekends!
