Happy Friday! This week has felt a little long, but I think C is working on her last two teeth (other than 2-year molars), so she’s having a harder time sleeping and is a little harder to entertain than usual.
But she and I have had a lot of fun playing outside the last few days and she’s been a great errand buddy and helper while I’m doing chores.

I’m Pregnant Again! + The First Trimester
At 16 weeks pregnant, baby boy is supposedly the length of a pear.
SYMPTOMS
My morning sickness is mostly gone. I get pretty nauseated at night sometimes, usually if I’m feeling particularly full. The smell of coffee grounds still makes me feel sick.
Constipation is still very much a thing. I finally got aloe water and sometimes I think it’s starting to help, but I’m hoping with more consistent use it’ll be as magical as last time.
My milk supply feels nonexistent. Until the last few weeks, I was occasionally getting days when I’d pump 3-4 ounces in the morning, but I’m usually only getting around 1-2 ounces in the same amount of time these days.
My balance is way off. Sometimes I shift my weight slightly and have to actively stop myself from falling.
I think I have a tiny bit of sciatica, but I’m hoping it stays mild.
I’m sleeping hard and mostly well, but it’s been a little hard to fall asleep the last week or so. I’m up every day at (and usually before) 5:30, much like normal.
I’ve developed a little bump. Most of my pants still fit and I mostly look like I ate a little too much, but I know it’s a bump. I’m about four pounds above my pre-pregnancy weight, which, looking back, is almost exactly where I was at this point in my pregnancy with C. Basically, I look a lot like I did two weeks ago.
Food
My diet has been boringly normal, honestly. Like when I was pregnant with C, I haven’t had any serious aversions, and I’m grateful for that. I think I have more cravings this time around than last time, but nothing crazy. I always, always want burgers, fried chicken, and fries. Aside from donuts really early on and the Blizzard I needed to have last Saturday, my cravings definitely lean savory, but I also want all of the fruit. Which is good, because even though I’m not really nauseated anymore, I’m still having a hard time with water. It always sounds awful, and even when I’m super thirsty, I only want to take tiny sips. But fruit helps with hydration, too.
My other favorite thing for hydration is LMNT. I started using it when I was pregnant with C, and I’ve had it most days since. When I’m feeling rundown or headachy, I’m very often dehydrated, and when I drink this, it feels like I get a giant burst of energy. It’s super salty, which I’m told can take some getting used to, but I’ve wanted endless amounts of salt for the last two years of pregnancy/breastfeeding, so I love it.
Exercise
I’m near the end of this exercise program. It’s one of my favorites, and I’ve been modifying it a little to suit my pregnancy and time limitations. I really, really liked Expecting and Empowered as a first pregnancy program, but by the time I did the pregnancy and postpartum components, I was extremely bored. The workouts are definitely effective, but they’re pretty much structured the same for the whole time, which ends up being over a year, and I like changing rep schemes and strength goals every 3-6 weeks, or I get bored.
I’ve been taking Willis and C on walks, too, and also just generally chasing C around and taking care of house- and yard-work.
Stories
I have some pregnancy brain. The other day I put chicken meatballs in the oven and resolved to get them out in a half hour. My usual MO is not setting a timer for these things because I just remember. Just over a half hour later, I smelled crispy chicken and thought, “That sounds delicious,” before remembering the meatballs. They were a tad overdone, but they were very tasty.
I had my 16-week appointment yesterday, and everything sounds good!
