Hey there! Happy Monday! How was your weekend? Mine was much better than I anticipated. I had my two wisdom teeth extracted on Friday, so I expected to be in pain (and on Vicodin) for most of the weekend. My medical history suggests that if something can go wrong or be particularly painful, it probably will. 😛
So far, however, this procedure has proven to be no big deal. I haven’t touched my pain meds, and my face doesn’t look like a chipmunk!
The worst part of the whole weekend has been a pretty limited diet of soft food. I’m a tad tired of soup, yogurt, ice cream, bananas, and applesauce. But I recognize that I’m lucky in terms of symptoms, so that detail is really no big deal.
I spent most of Friday watching TV and coloring on the couch, but I felt like I could have done more. I’m sure my body needed some of the rest, though.
Saturday, however, my mom and I went out to run some errands. It felt great to be out of the house, but I did get worn out pretty quickly. When we got home, I enjoyed a little relaxation time and made this soup for dinner. It’s completely delicious, super easy, and makes fabulous leftovers. Give it a try!
Sunday morning was relaxing. I watched Sunday shows with my dad before running to the grocery store for some more soft foods. When I got home, I decided to mix up some cookie doughs to bake over the next few days. With all the baking I’ve done recently, I’ve also gone through a lot of ingredients. So while I always have chocolate chips around, yesterday I realized I had run out. I went back to the store, got home, and realized I was also out of flour. Usually, I’m a pretty good planner, but apparently not yesterday. I was a little frustrated with myself, though. My awesome mom took pity on me and offered to go to the store and get me flour since I had just been there twice within about a half an hour. Shortly after she got home, I had cookie doughs chilling in the fridge and all was right in my world. My mistake was no big deal. 🙂
I was also lucky enough to spend part of Sunday afternoon with some high school friends, just chatting and catching up for a while. So very much changes in our lives between the times we get to see each other, but nothing really changes between us. It’s the best. I miss them all, but the distance always turns out to be no big deal when it comes to maintaining our relationships.
{Babies! Last day of senior year.}
And then I came home and ate dinner and snacked on soft food while finishing the first season of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt… which we started before I left for school. I thought the ending was disappointing, but enjoyed the rest of the season. Also, it’s just a show – no big deal!
This week, I’m planning to see a movie or two with my dad, bake some more, and pretty much get ready for Christmas festivities. It should be a good one!
How was your weekend?
What’s your favorite movie?

How can I pick a favorite movie?! I love The Sound Of Music and the movie Miracle. I also love Blades Of Glory, not because it’s that good, but because my best friend and I would watch it together and it’s much better with someone to crack jokes with.
The best thing I did this past weekend was wrap presents and listen to Christmas music. I was stressing about getting it done, but once I got in the groove, it was fun 🙂 Send me some of your cookies!

Ooh I love Miracle, and I also now have “My Favorite Things” stuck in my head 😉 I’m so glad you had a good, productive weekend!
Nothing is ever as big a deal as we think 😉
So glad your process was good and golden!!! Now it’s over!!!! (I didn’t take my meds either, but my face DID blow up!)
“Nothing is ever as big a deal as we think” <-- That's a thing I would do well to remember 🙂
Great weekend, had a really good, long conversation with my dad and a relaxing evening! Thanks for the reminder that the little things in life (like a bad night’s sleep for me) are just that: little, and no big deal.
AAAA!! My *favorite* movie??? I can’t choose! I categorize them into favorites of the different genres. The most recent movie I’ve watched that is my favorite is actually a kids’ movie: The Emperor’s New Groove. So funny…it makes me laugh every time!
Glad you had such a lovely weekend!
Haha that’s how I avoid choosing “real” favorites, too. I just make a million categories and then I can have a million favorites 😉
I went through wisdom teeth surgery when I was 12, so I resonate with what you’re going through right now! I hope you’re enjoying some relaxation. I HIGHLY recommend my favorite movie. It’s called An Education, and it stars my favorite actress Carey Mulligan. Definitely check it out!
I love Carey Mulligan! I’ll look into that – thanks for the recommendation!
Oh I’m so glad the surgery went well! I remember when I had my teeth out… they had been hurting for months before I got them out and honestly I felt like I wanted to pull them out of my face. Oh my word… so painful. It was such a relief when they finally came out!
Ohhh see, mine hadn’t started bothering me yet. I’m glad you did get yours taken care of!
I watched the first season of UKS a while ago, too, and thought it was pretty good! Hmm…my favorite movie is probably Anne of Green Gables. It’s such a classic!
Hope you’re all recovered quickly from your wisdom tooth surgery. I remember being so tired of soft foods (they were all so SWEET!) and craving savory foods and dying to use a fork again. I watched Food Network which was torture…I don’t recommend doing that 😉
That’s so funny – I just told my mom soft foods are all too sweet! I’ve had some soups and stuff, but mostly… sweets. Even though I have a sweet tooth, I guess I enjoy a nice balance of all foods (and textures).
