In case you didn’t know, I really like snacks. And while I do love all the snacks I eat regularly, I also really like mixing it up and trying new ones.
So when Natural Balance Foods reached out and asked if I’d like to try some of their healthy cereal bars, I was really intrigued. I’m a huge fan of protein and snack bars in general, and I know they aren’t always the healthiest. While that doesn’t generally stop me from eating other bars, it did make these ones sound extra awesome.
The product
Natural Balance Foods is a UK-based company aiming to provide consumers with convenient, delicious snacks that are healthier than much of the hyper-processed fare on the market today.
From their site:
Eat Nākd bars are a great way to eat nutritious, healthy food without compromising on taste! Our snack bars are made from yummy natural ingredients such as fruits and nuts which are ‘smooshed’ together for you into a handy bar. Gluten, wheat and dairy free, with no added sugars or hidden extras.
Basically, these bars have short ingredient lists that with more things you could buy in a grocery list than you would use in a science experiment. That’s always good, right?
I received a sampler box of 14 flavors: caffe mocha, banana crunch, rhubarb & custard, cocoa orange, cocoa delight, strawberry crunch, cocoa mint, cocoa crunch, ginger bread, apple crunch, cashew cookie, bakewell tart, berry delight, and pecan pie.
Most of the bars are between 100 and 150 calories and, with some color variation, look like the cocoa crunch bar below. You can see bits of crushed-up nuts bound together by dried fruit, because that’s pretty much what these bars are.
I also received a packet of their fruit & nut nibbles in the salted caramel flavor.
These are just about the size of M&Ms, perfect for snacking, and not too sticky since they’re lightly coated in rice flour.
The verdict
I’ve been snacking on these over the past week or so and I really enjoy them. I find that the flavors are pretty true to what you’d expect, but I would say that if you don’t like dates, don’t expect to like a bar that’s mostly made of dates, even if it claims to taste like pecan pie. Personally, I love dates and raisins, so those just add to whatever flavor the bar is. Make sense?
I honestly liked them all. Let’s just get that out of the way. I didn’t expect to love the cocoa orange, but it somehow tasted like a Tootsie Roll! However, my favorites were the salted caramel fruit & nut nibbles and cocoa orange, cashew cookie, cocoa crunch, and rhubarb & custard bars.
I feel like an “obvious” concern about the bars is that they’re high in sugar. Maybe (depends on your point of view). That said, it’s all sugar from some pretty freaking healthy ingredients. For me, one of these is more like part of a snack because I’m a hungry person and I like a little extra protein and fat to hold me over, and these are largely dried fruit bars. But they are delicious, I love them, I’m really glad I got to try them, and I would absolutely buy them regularly.
What do you look for in a snack bar?
Would you try Nākd bars? What flavors interest you most?
Disclosure: This post is sponsored by Natural Balance Foods, but all opinions are my own! They sent me these bars in exchange for a review, but I love these products and truly think they’re delicious, and I’ll only ever write posts on products for which this is true. Thanks!

It’s certainly some good marketing 🙂
I don’t think I have had a nakd bar before, but some of them look pretty good! They also remind me of larabars, just based off your description and visually as well. Thank you for the review Ellen! Happy Monday. 🙂
They are a lot like Larabars!
Those look delicious! Now I really wanna try them 🙂 Happy Holidays x
I highly recommend ordering some! I love ’em!
Haha, I am totally a snack person, so these look especially intriguing to me. I actually just bought a bar very similar in idea to these at Trader Joe’s. Mostly, when it comes to snacks, I try to go for things (like you were saying) that have more natural ingredients such as I myself could buy/make. And pretty much they all sound too hard to choose, except the strawberry one, the berry one, the Bakewell tart and pecan pie. The rhubarb and custard one sounded very interesting! Of course, the chocolate ones would probably be my top pick for trying first, just ’cause I’m such a chocoholic. ??? I should look for these when we go shopping and see if they sell them at one of our regular stores!
Right now, you can only buy them online in the US, but they’re looking to expand into stores! Shipping is free, though, and many shipments come with some freebies for the trouble!
I know you shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover, but I really like the packaging of these bars! For me, the bars I enjoy the most are the ones with the least ingredients (and only ingredients that I can pronounce!). My current favorites are Rx Bars!
Aren’t they pretty? I think looks definitely matter when it comes to marketing, and while that can’t tell the whole story, it definitely helps products stand out! And these fit your minimal ingredient preference 🙂 I wanna try Rx bars, as well!
If I could eat bars, I would be in serious trouble because I would want to eat THEM ALL THE TIME – ha ha!!
I definitely have to consciously decide to eat other things. I love them!
