Happy Monday! How was your weekend? Mine was pretty wonderful, very productive, and nicely relaxing. My parents came to visit this weekend, and it was really, really nice. We ate good food and stayed in a nice hotel and kind of just hung out. I don’t have a million stories to relate or as many pictures to share as maybe I should, but we had fun.

On Friday, we ate Chipotle and my dad helped me out with some calculus studying.
On Saturday, my mom and I went to Target, which is pretty much my favorite store ever, and I bought a million things. Let’s just say… I won’t be going hungry any time soon. I have four kinds of cereal. And four kinds of Oreos (birthday cake, mint, pumpkin spice, and cookie dough).
{Nowhere near all of it}
Then, we headed back to the hotel to hang out with my dad and watch some football and eat pizza and study more calc.
Sunday morning, I got to watch political shows with my dad and then the three of us went out for a delicious brunch and a quick run to the grocery store before my parents headed out of town.

I had honestly planned to come back and spend the night at my dorm and go to dinner with some friends, but I ended up feeling a little overwhelmed with studying and such, and ultimately felt really good about my decision to kind of spend the weekend “away”. In this case, I was only about five minutes away from where I’ve lived for the last month, but it was just refreshing and kind of nice.
Don’t get me wrong, I love my new home and friends, but the change of pace was exactly what I needed to feel really relaxed. I guess it’s hard to put into words. I just know that when my parents dropped me back at my dorm, I was relaxed, but ready to be back.
I spent the evening chatting with housemates and studying some econ, relaxing, and eating candy. And Oreos. Perfect start to the week, if you ask me. Perfect end to a wonderful weekend.
Did you have a good weekend? What did you do?
Do you like flavored Oreos or do you prefer the classics?

I was hoping we’d make the blog ;). It was wonderful to see you and spend some quality time with you. I had a great weekend. Oreo ranking: 1) Pumpkin spice 2) cookie dough 3) vanilla 4) double stuff 5) original 6) mint 7) birthday cake 8) watermelon. That’s all I’ve tried.

Pumpkin spice jumped to the top pretty quickly for you, eh? Is that a purely flavor-based decision or does crumb color factor in? 😉

Bonus points for not having black stuff stuck in my teeth. Might even move vanilla up to #2 for that reason. Also wondering whether pumpkin spice could hold its ranking year-round or if it’s just benefiting from the season. May not have staying power.
All the good food makes me hungry.
Me, too, Kayla! Luckily, there’s more where that came from 🙂
Hey Ellen! I just ran into your blog and I have to say that I love what you have going here. Your posts are so fun to read, and your way of writing just has a way of bringing a smile to my face and making me glad that there are bloggers out there like you who are enthusiastic about life and willing to share it! Thank you!
And flavored Oreos?? I see I am missing out on some serious awesomeness. I’ve tried the more classic flavors (double-stuff, all-vanilla, all-chocolate, inside-out Oreos, mint and pb), but have never heard of some that you mentioned!! Being a cookie dough *fiend*, I’ve gotta get me hands on some of that particular flavor! Of the ones I’ve tried though, I was shocked to realize, I still prefer the regular, plain Oreo (I’m usually a the-more-chocolate-the-better kind of girl).
Thank you so much, Hannah! That’s so sweet of you!
Haha, I’m a huge fan of the cookie dough and the Reese’s… and also pumpkin spice, because I like pretty much pumpkin spice anything, but I agree that the originals are some of the best. Also, I TOTALLY get where you’re coming from with the chocolate love. Give me all the chocolate things! 🙂
Lol, yes!! And pumpkin spice is one of my fav food flavor combos, and of course, it’s *that* time of year, sooo I definitely want to try that one too! Need. Oreos. now. 😛
