Happy Monday! How was your weekend? How was the last…. I’m not even going to look at how long it’s been since I talked to you. It doesn’t matter, right? I’m here and I’m back and we’re going to ease into this with 1-2 posts a week. Nothing crazy, but I did just pay for another year of this space, and I do actually love it. So.Let’s do this.
The short story about my absence is that because 98% of what I do all day is marked “confidential – internal use only,” I started to feel like I couldn’t really share anything with you. This story is kiiind of bullshit.
The longer story is that I was having a rough time with everything, and the only writing I was doing (aside from what I do at work) was ultra-blunt, moderately-depressing, profanity-laced journaling.
Despite my training week being a lot of fun, the rest of adult life didn’t start off so fun. I mean, who would have thought that a week of new friends and events in New York would be different than the day to day routine of getting acclimated at a new job?
You thought that? Okay, cool, you’re smarter than me.
No, I knew that, too. I just didn’t realize that I would suddenly feel ridiculously lonely in my apartment with Ben after spending 16+ hours a day with other people. Or that actually feeling important and useful at work would take so long. Or that I’d actually get tired of drinking excessively with my new friends and want to meet different people and do things other than drink excessively.
And right now, things feel really good. Also, really new and uncertain.
There’s a lot of growth going on over here, and I really haven’t known how to start sharing it. Or if I even should. But here I am.
There are 10,000 things I want to tell you, but not all at once. I want to give each the attention it deserves, and I don’t want to exhaust all my writing momentum on a single massive blog post.
So, I’m going to be a little annoying and tease them. In the coming weeks, I’m going to tell you:
- Why I hired a life/mindset coach… without trying to sell you on one
- What I do to calm the heck down and live in the moment (we can be works-in-progress together!)
- Why I cut way back on exercise – and how it’s changed the way I look and feel for the better
- How Ben is doing (you care about him more than me, right?)
- Why I joined Bumble… after bashing dating apps to anyone who would listen for years
- How I shop for food & cook for one with minimal planning
- What a day in my life is like right now… with zero work details, but you’ll get the gist
- And more! As always, if you’re curious about something, ask and I’ll tell you what I can.
Your turn:
What’s something new/exciting in your life right now?
What are you looking forward to this week?

Well I think I am looking forward to the Indians trying to stay alive in the ALDS against a very good Houston team. Still pretty excited about the Browns ‘victory over the Ravens in OT yesterday. Excited that we got to see Mason busting his butt (to impress g’ma and g’pa) in Saturday’s soccer match and victory( though they don’t really talk about the score) and then have lunch with his family at Red Robin.
Also of great interest I am sure–we and a few nearby neighbors are meeting with a rep from Generac this afternoon to discuss the feasibility and the cost of installing generators to provide power in the event of power failures. We did that on Touby Road following the big ice storm of (I don’t remember the year.) We seldom used it, but it was nice to have when needed.
