Hey there! Happy Friday! How was your week? You already know mine has been excellent and that I’ve spent a lot of it in the kitchen. Yesterday, I got a massage, hung out with my dog, and volunteered with my mom (and accompanied her to work party). Seriously, it’s been a great week.
As you read this, I’m probably fairly drugged up due to a lovely wisdom tooth extraction. Consequently, today will include soup and ice and lots of rest. I hope your weekend is more fun than mine! 😉 (I really don’t think it’ll be that bad.) Anyway, as we head into the weekend, let’s look back at some of the little things we loved most about the week.
These were on sale at Target the other day, and I like veggies, so I thought I’d give them a try. I’ve had the broccoli, cauliflower, and Brussels sprouts versions so far as snacks, and while they’re really small, they are really tasty.
Once upon a time, I had an “I don’t like peanut butter phase” during which I preferred my PB&Js with more jelly than peanut butter and ate jelly on crackers when my dad had peanut butter and crackers. Fortunately, this was short-lived and I can happily say that peanut butter is one of my favorite things ever. For some reason, though, I rarely do the peanut butter and crackers thing. Also, I ran out of the sweetly addictive Jif Whips at school. One night after dinner this week, I was looking for a little something extra and my dad mentioned that this combo is excellent. Um, he’s right. The crispy crackers are the perfect counter to the creamy, nutty spread. Do it.
I know I’m bad at just sitting with myself and my thoughts, and this reminds me that it’s okay – and that I need to work on it. It’s not comfortable, but it is helpful.
- Pippa in general
My dog is wonderful. She’s adorable when she crashes under the Christmas tree. She’s cute when she begs for bites of pizza (it’s her favorite “people food”). She’s hilariously eager when it’s time to go for a walk. Even though her little legs don’t let her run much, when I took her out for an afternoon walk on Wednesday she was so excited to go that we jogged together for about a quarter of a mile. I wasn’t wearing the right shoes for any sort of running, but I wasn’t about to hold her back. Love. Her.
- Sharing my sweets
I think it’s pretty clear that I really like the act of baking. But what I love even more is sharing my food and love and seeing it make people happy. There’s nothing better than the feeling of making people happy, even if it’s just because I gave them sugar. 🙂
Peanut butter or jelly?
What are you loving this week?

Thanks, Morgan! I hope you have a lovely weekend, too!
Oh my gosh, those cookies look delish! I hope your surgery goes well…. ahh wisdom teeth. I got all four of mine out in high school and ended up getting dry sockets! It was the WORST. Don’t try to eat solid food too quickly 😉 Wishing you a speedy recovery, thanks for linking up!
Thanks, Heather! I’m sorry you had such a bad experience! I hope you have a great weekend 🙂
Oooo that cookie line up! 😉 So good!!!
I loved clare’s post too!
And……PEANUT BUTTER! (with apple butter 😉 )
Mmmm apple butter goes so well with peanut butter! Yum!
My cat hides out under our Christmas tree! I don’t know what it is about it, but animals seems to gravitate to it!
Peanut butter or jelly? Really? I have to choose??? Hm… okay. Peanut butter.
Have a wonderful weekend, Ellen!
That’s so cute. My cats used to tear up our tree, but my dog just stares at it and sleeps under it 🙂
Haha I won’t make you choose; you can have both!
Thanks, Julia. I hope you have a great weekend! Congrats on finishing up the semester!
Awww, Pippa’s eyes just melt my heart! She is so adorable!
Peanut butter, for sure. But preferably peanut butter AND jam, which was one of the best combos ever invented, IMO. Along with pb + banana, pb + maple syrup, pb + caramel, etc., etc., the list goes on and on…and of course, the holy grail of peanut butter flavor combos, pb + chocolate. Heavenly on its own and add chocolate to any of the above combinations and it takes it up a notch. Okay, I kind went a little out of control on this subject…<- can you tell I love talking about food?? ?
Hope your surgery goes smoothly!! Rest up, Ellen! ? Bring on all the soft treats, Netflix, movies and cozy-ing up with a warm blanket…
So, basically, peanut butter with everything 😉 Not that I blame you – it’s delicious! Hahaha I love talking about food, as well, so no problem.
Thanks! I think it went well… Have a great weekend, Hannah!
Ahhh, I hope your wisdom tooth recovery goes quickly! Enjoy lots of yogurt, smoothies, blizzards, and ice cream 🙂
Thank you! That’s the plan 🙂 Have a great weekend! Congrats on finishing up the semester, Liv!
Pippa is such a cutie! I am a HUGE peanut butter lover 🙂
Thanks, Edye! Right there with ya 🙂

I have to echo everyone’s sentiments that your dog is ADORABLE!!! 🙂 And I also enthusiastically echo the joy of sharing our baking with others.
Thanks, Emily! Baking for other is, indeed, such a joy!
Your dog is the cutest! I am a big PB lover, though I also like strawberry jelly 🙂
Thanks! YES to strawberry. I feel like the rest of the world favors grape, but strawberry is what I grew up with on my PB&Js 🙂
I didn’t know you had a dog named Pippa! One of my best friends has a “snorkie” mix named Pippa and she ADORES that dog. I mean, that dog is her child. She has clothes for it, it gets it’s own Christmas tree, etc.
Oh my! That’s so funny and oh-so-cute! I don’t think my dog would handle clothes very well. She even tries to pull out the bows the groomers put in her hair ?
I’m a PB gal all the way, but I understand the taste bud switch! Last month I was feeling the jelly vibes wayyy more. Hope you had a speedy wisdom teeth recovery!
Haha I relate to your PB love 🙂 Thanks, Cayanne! It was definitely a quick recovery!
