Happy weekend! Do you have exciting plans? I have “exciting” essay-writing plans. Basically, I’m going to spend a good chunk of the weekend in the company of Karl Marx and Adam Smith. I know you’re jealous. 😉 Don’t worry – I’ll manage to have some fun, too, but this is the home stretch of my midterm season, so I’m pretty alright with buckling down and working a lot for another weekend. Anyway, let’s start the weekend off on a high note by looking back at some of the best parts of the week.
- The end(ish) of midterms
Since I had econ last week, Spanish last Friday and this past Monday, and IR yesterday, my exams are now over until finals! I still have an essay to write for Self, Culture, and Society, but after next Wednesday, I’m quite a bit freer 🙂
- Early bedtimes
I’m still not exactly a fan of this whole “fall back” thing, but the earlier sunsets have encouraged me to prioritize sleep a little more. Well, it’s actually more like they make me feel like it’s later than it really is. But the result has been a little extra sleep. I’ll take it!
- Tea
{I also like the little notes on the Yogi tags.}
I never thought I’d say it, but I think I’ve become a tea person. I took some a few weeks ago to be polite when a friend offered it, and I found I liked it. I’ve always dismissed it as “leaf juice” (which it really is) in the past, but I’ve been enjoying it a lot this week. Some favorites include Yogi Vanilla Spice Perfect Energy, Celestial Seasonings Coconut Thai Chai, and Tazo Chai Pumpkin Spice.
- Cottage cheese
I know a lot of people hate the texture, but I seriously love cottage cheese. It’s great with fruit, with cereal, and by itself with some black pepper. The grocery store has been out of the kind I really like lately (Breakstone 4%), so it was a nice surprise to find it this past weekend.
- A lovely care package
My grandparents sent me striped socks, Burt’s Bees, notecards, and lots of yummy snacks. They’re the best. It was a perfect little pick-me-up during this particularly busy time.
That’s all for me this week! Have a lovely weekend!
Cottage cheese: yay or nay?
What are you loving this week?
How are you spending your weekend?

Coconut Thai Chai sounds lovely!
I’m excited to be able to restock my seasonal Trader Joe’s favorites of Black vanilla cinnamon and candy cane green tea (I just finished off last years “extra” boxes I stocked up on!)

Those teas sound great! As if I needed another reason to stop by Trader Joe’s 😉
I love tea but cottage cheese is a no for me. I think it’s more the texture than anything though.
I think the texture is what gets a lot of people!
I crawled into bed at 8:30 last night, so yes I’m with you on the earlier bedtimes. I’m hoping my body will acclimate to the change soon, but when the sunsets at 4:30, it’s hard not want to call it a day soon after!
Cottage cheese: YAY YAY YAY!
Loving this week: extra sleep
Spending the weekend: Taking the WPA exam and then lots of movie time with friends I think. 🙂
Have a wonderful weekend, Ellen!
Good luck on that exam! And enjoy your movie time – you totally deserve the downtime!
Oh you have the sweetest grandparents! How adorable!
They’re pretty great 🙂
I’m afraid I would usually choose Quark over cottage cheese so I don’t tend to have it very often…
Hope you can get some well deserved R&R once the exams and essays are finally over! xx
Quark is a lot less common here I think! But I have had it a few times and it’s tasty! Thanks, Charlie – I’m done now 😀
Cottage cheese is one of those foods that you either love or hate – I personally love it! I prefer Daisy, though. I tried Breakstone and was not a fan, for some reason!
I’m loving the fact that my exams for this grading period are over! So happy to get some sleep.
For the most part, I plan to stay at home this weekend. I may be going to Target today, but that’s about it!
Hope you managed some rest!
What a lovely care package!! SO sweet! …and yay for extra sleep!! I’m all about that! 🙂
Extra sleep is ALWAYS good.
