Hey there! Long time no chat. I spent Friday through Wednesday studying as much as I could handle (which turned out to be a lot) for my econ midterm Thursday morning. Whenever I had “spare” time, I studied. Or ate. Often both. I didn’t even take time to cook for myself, relying instead on the Subway downstairs and microwave/throw-together meals. So, now you pretty much know what I did with my week! It was as good as a studying-consumed week can be, and now it’s time to catch up on my other classes. Yep, I let myself fall a little behind in my other classes to study for that one. Still, the catch-up period shouldn’t be quite as intense as the past week and maybe I’ll actually find some time to relax this weekend.
Speaking of the weekend, let’s head into it on a positive note by looking at some of our favorite things from the week. Ready? Okay!
- Enjoying studying
This was obviously (?) only true sometimes, but occasionally I would find myself loving every second of solving econ problems. Sure, I got frustrated when I made mistakes or didn’t understand something, but I like feeling like I’m learning. I guess college is an okay place for that 😉
- Ice cream oatmeal
Please don’t judge me. I couldn’t decide what I wanted on my oatmeal last night, but I wanted it to be creamy and sweet. I considered going through the steps of adding some maple syrup and nut butter… but then I randomly decided to scoop some vanilla ice cream into my hot oats and let it melt. It can’t be that much different than putting extra milk and sugar in, right? And it was delicious. I’d totally try it with different flavors of ice cream.
- A Harry Potter-themed dinner
{Excuse the lighting, but it’s a basilisk dog!}
I honestly didn’t stay past appetizers because I was deep in study mode, but the grad students who live with us hosted a small dinner on Saturday night. It was Harry Potter-themed, elaborate, and awesome. It was a nice little study break.
- My roommate’s show
My roommate wrote and directed a short adaptation of Moby Dick that went up yesterday, and I went to see it yesterday evening. It was so well-done and also cool to see what she’s spent so much time working on over the past few weeks. And, of course, it was a nice break from work.
- Warm bread with nut butter
I’m such a huge proponent of eating nut butter with a spoon that sometimes I forget that it goes so well on other things. Lately, my favorites have been salty peanut butter and maple almond butter on English muffins, but I’m not terribly picky.
And that’s all for me this week. I should be back a bit more next week – thanks for sticking around!
How was your week?
What do you like on your oatmeal?
What are you loving this week?

The ice cream in the oatmeal makes me laugh. I just had some with just a bit of cinnamon sugar but it was definitely not sweet enough – could have used some ice cream lol

It was a good decision 🙂
Nut butter is a must in my oatmeal or better yet, chocolate tahini…..swoon!
Happy Halloween dear!
Chocolate tahini sounds amazing!
How did the econ exam go?? I bet you killed it! Also, I’m going to try ice cream oatmeal. You’ve officially inspired me to try that. My topping for oatmeal usually tends to be cocoa powder and banana. Can’t go wrong with that.
Have a fabulous weekend, Ellen!
Haha it was a rough exam, but it was obviously designed to be. It’s over now!
Cocoa powder and banana sounds like an excellent combination 🙂
Hope the exam went well! I’m also a ‘nut butter by the spoon’ person- to be honest, I can’t even remember the last time I actually used it as a spread. Happy Hallowe’en 🙂 xx
I still contend that a spoon is the best method for nut butter consumption 🙂
Oh my goodness, the basilisk figure is so darn cute! Hope you have a Happy Halloween!
Right? So creative! Hope you had a great weekend!
