HI. Happy Friday! I’ve missed blogs and blogging this week, but taking a hiatus for the bulk of my midterms was extremely necessary. I’ll try to make it up to you next week with two tasty recipes plus some regular life catch-ups!
If you missed it, I posted Pomegranate & Chicken Stuffed Acorn Squash on Monday.
You should try it.
Anyway, in addition to having exams, I’ve been busy most evenings this week and had a few meetings in the afternoons, so I’ve had much less time than usual to study for them and keep up with my regular work. It’s been a lot. But it’s all good.
I’m looking forward to a busy weekend of Fit U work, studying for my last midterm, reading, yoga, blog work, and perhaps some downtime. Before we get into all that, though, let’s talk about our favorite things from this past week. Ready? Okay!
Summer internship
Let’s start with the news: I got a summer internship offer yesterday!
So, I’ll be working back home in Columbus, OH>
And now I’ll give you an overview of the backstory. I thought I had this job for last summer, found out I was too young after interviewing in March, and have been following up to keep my name familiar ever since. I didn’t expect to know anything until the end of November based on a conversation I had with the program director in August. Then, she told me that her assistant would reach out to schedule my phone screening yesterday, and instead, she called me right before my midterm and told me I got the offer.
Maybe I had trouble focusing on everything else for the rest of the day. Excited is an understatement.
Care package
This was a lovely way to kick off my craziest week. My aunt sent me chocolate, socks, nut butter, dates, nail polish, and Halloween decorations.
Apartment decorating
Over the last five weeks, my roommates and I have slowly been moving into the apartment more and figuring out how we want to live. Lately, that’s included everything from sticking Halloween stickers on the windows and hanging competing flags and our calendar on the walls to ordering a shelf for food storage and a toaster for, well, toasting things. We’re here for nine months, and it’s so nice to make it feel homier.
Travel mugs
I have a million regular mugs, but I ordered a few of these Contigo travel mugs (in Greyed Jade and Watermelon) so I can take tea everywhere. Um, such a good choice. They keep tea so hot for several hours and seal easily and tightly. I can just toss them in my bag and go.
Chicago Symphony Orchestra
One of my friend’s coworkers won tickets to go see the Chicago Symphony Orchestra last night, but he couldn’t go, so my friend picked up the tickets and offered for me to come. She graduated last year, I haven’t seen her much since June, and I’ve also never been to see the CSO before, so I said I’d go. Also, it was a way to celebrate my internship offer and tell her all about how it came together. I’m writing this beforehand, since the show is a little late, but I’m assuming I had a good time. 🙂

Those contigo tumblers are great!! I actually had to be extra careful when sipping on my coffee for fear of burning myself (an hour after I poured the drink in!)

Girll we are so similar. This is all great- plus that recipe looks amazing that you posted. I loveeee Colombus, Ohio. I’m excited to see what you think of it! Congrats on your internship. You will kill it.
– Currently I am loving boom chicka pop candy corn kettle corn. I might be the only person to love candy corn, but that combined with my favorite popcorn is like a dream come true
– Tomorrow my husband and I are going to a supposedly “haunted” restaurant for dinner! I will be posting about it next week (if I make it out, mwahaha).
Have a wonderful weekend! I hope you enjoyed the symphony orchestra. That’s an incredible experience.
