Hello lovely people! It’s the end of another (long, good, busy) week. How’s life look from where you are? Hopefully everything is going well for you and you’re ready for a fabulous weekend. I like to end the week on a high note, by looking back at some of my favorite little things that made it so lovely. Let’s get to it!
Yes, I mentioned them yesterday. TOO BAD. You don’t understand how happy this much chocolate in one bite makes me. And if you do, then you probably made these cookies already. They are now gone from my house, but they are not gone from my heart.
First, know that while I enjoy putting on makeup and all that, I still have approximately no patience for it. The process is fun, but if it takes more than 5 or so minutes – just no. I wear the same makeup for all situations and have probably had the same simple makeup routine for years. This is my favorite eyeliner (read: the only eyeliner I’ve ever tried) and it goes on so smoothly.
All this is a really long way of saying that I’ve been using a stub of eyeliner for over a week and the store has been out of the “peacock” color for over a month and I finally got it in the mail. I like using vibrant colors of eyeliner with neutral everything else. You can’t really tell it’s colorful, but it’s somehow a little more interesting than just black or brown.
And now you know more than you wanted about my eyeliner preferences. Oops. Congratulations! ?
- My new backpack
Nerd alert: I get really excited about back-to-school supplies! Prepare to probably see a post on my favorite pens, notebooks, pencils, Post-Its, etc. I recently got a backpack that I think is a little less annoying and floppy than my last one and now I can use whichever one fits the situation (and all my stuff) best. I love options.
It is the middle of summer. I spend more time really warm than really cold. However, Thermacare (and also heated seats in the car) is a total lifesaver for back pain. It doesn’t make everything perfect, but it does help. And sometimes I’ll take all the help I can get. 😛
- My dad’s hamburgers
He grills thick, simple, perfect hamburgers and I don’t think we’d had them all summer until last night. It. Was. Awesome.
And that’s all for me this week. I hope you have a fantastic weekend! Catch ya Monday!
Is your makeup style simple or do you mix it up? Or is it nonexistent?
What do you like on your burgers? I’m not usually a ketchup person, but it sounded really good last night. Mustard is my must-have!
What are some of your favorites from this week?

It certainly was tasty 🙂 Thanks for hosting!
That cookie looks so amazing right now! Happy Friday!
Thanks! I made another batch yesterday haha 😀
Oh my goodness that cookie looks like the bomb dot com! I love makeup, however I keep my look neutral due to the fact that I do not like wearing TOO much, and also because I don’t really know HOW to put on eyeliner without looking like a raccoon. Any tips :P?
Hmm… I put it on pretty thin, I guess, and only on the top. It took me a while to find a way I liked. I guess I find that drawing a bit on makes my eyelashes look thicker even without mascara. Terrible explanation – I’m no makeup artist. I just mess around a little till I like what I see. #pro 🙂
My backpack I got last year is legit! It had to be big enough for my huge 18in laptop and basically…it’s bigger than me, haha! But it is a durable beast (actually a “boys” backpack, but it does the job)
In high school, one of my math teachers used to cringe whenever I put on my backpack because it was bigger than me haha. Sounds like yours is strong and useful and that’s the most important thing!!
I love back to school supplies – biggest bummer about being done with school! Also, that burger looks so good!
I think I’ll update my office/home/organizing supplies around this time of the year when I’m all done with school just for the nostalgia 😉
Nonexistent. I have considered trying makeup, but then I think about the time + effort I would have to put in, and then for what? So I can get it all over everywhere? Hmm…maybe not. Maybe I’ll try it sometime, but I’m thinking it will be mascara first, and maayyybbe lipstick. Maybe. On my burgers I like a mix of Dijon and mayo, plus caramelized onions. Tomatoes and lettuce are nice too, but you have to have the caramelized onions. Raw onions can be subbed if you are in a bind. 😉 Your dad’s burgers look delicious! (I think I would like them a bit more cooked? But I don’t know… 😀 )
Mascara is my favorite thing. I have long – but very blonde – eyelashes, so I’m a fan of darkening ’em a bit. I lovelovelove onions, especially caramelized ones!! And haha yeah, I like my burgers medium rare… a little bit pink 🙂
Foundation and blush and sometimes mascara. Eye liner for special occasions. I can never get my make-up to look very professional looking (more like high school freshman), so I keep it pretty basic!
Basic is really the best 🙂
I keep it simple. Foundation (or sometimes just BB cream) and mascara. I never got the hang of the whole eyeliner thing. 😀
I seriously love mascara. I’ve never tried BB cream, but it sounds light and really nice. Might have to give it a shot sometime!
THOSE COOKIES THOUGH. They look amazing! Stopping by from Friday Fave linkup!
Thanks!! I made another batch yesterday! They’re fabulous. Thanks for stopping by and reading!
Those cookies look seriously amazing!
Your dad’s hamburgers scream summer too! I used to always be a ketchup and mustard girl, however, now that I can’t eat tomatoes I was kind of stumped as to what to put on my burgers until Jesse suggested mixing mustard and mayo. SO good!
Thanks!
By itself, I’m not a fan of mayo, but I don’t mind it mixed into things so that actually sounds pretty yummy!
I’m the same with my makeup routine. I have limited time and attention in the morning and some days, I’m sure I roll into work looking downright frightening. /shrug.
I’ll have to look at that Clinque liner. I’m loveing NYX jumbo eyesticks right now. I use it for liner and in the corners. Savves so much time!
I’ll have to check those out – I love dual purpose products!
Nonexistent on the makeup…too much work (read: I’m too lazy :P). But it usually results in most people thinking I’m about 6 years younger than I really am, which I guess isn’t too bad considering I act somewhere between 10-15 years younger than I really am, depending on who I’m with and what I’m doing. 😛
I totally agree on the mustard!! I have to keep the bottle right by me as I eat, in case I want more, lol! I like lots of toppings, so I usually load mine down with lettuce, tomato, mushrooms and caramelized onions (those last two being the most important…besides mustard of course! :P).
Best of this week:
1) Bandit oil. My mom makes literally THEE best air freshener ever with this essential oil blend. Bandit oil is based off of an old medieval recipe and was called something like “Thieves’ oil”, but some company trademarked the name, so this knockoff recipe was called Bandit oil. It smells so good, it makes me want to use it as perfume, lol! 😉
2) Oatmeal. Due to digestive problems this week, I’ve been eating more oatmeal than I ever do, and I’d forgotten how much I kind of love the stuff.
3) Amanda’s recipes! I’ve run into Spoons so many times, and got lost on her recipe page because I wanted to make e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g. This last week, I thought I’d better make some progress, and started with the shakes…yum, such a good decision!
4) Dressing up little kids. Babysitting a family with two little girls who can’t dress themselves takes me right back to doll days, and I could’ve spent literally hours dressing and redressing them. 🙂
5) Burrito bowls. Never had an authentic Chipotle one yet, but I found a recipe for making one at home with a cauliflower rice base (which maybe is cheater, but I’m not a huge rice fan to begin with, so it was cool with me), and it was a tremendous hit. Chipotle, here I come! 😉
Have an awesome weekend, Ellen!
Haha people always think I’m 3-5 years younger than I am based on looks alone 😛
I love sautéed mushrooms and some caramelized onions. I’m always just too lazy to make them up. I should change that…
1.) That sounds cool! I’ve actually been looking into trying out essential oils lately for some of my issues – I hope they smell that good!
2.) I haven’t had oatmeal forever, but I’m thinking I’ll bring it back some as the weather starts to cool down.
3.) I made her flourless double chocolate brownies on Saturday! They’re SO fudgy and delicious. I’ll totally be trying some more!
4.) I used to have so much fun doing that when we babysat my cousins when they were younger. Now they pick out their own clothes 😛
5.) Yum! I’m not a huge rice person, either, so that sounds great to me!
Thanks, Hannah! Hope you had a lovely weekend!
That burger, oh my gosh. Your dad is any artist. I used to love ketchup on my burger, but I’m really good with just cheese now if it’s a good quality burger 😉
Mmm I do like melty Cheddar or Swiss on my burger sometimes. I kinda love cheese.
