Happy Friday! Did you have a good week? Mine was nice and busy, which is certainly not a bad thing. It’s supposed to be pretty hot and stormy over the next few days, so I’m planning to stay inside as much as possible and do more Olympics-watching, baking, and recipe testing. Let’s kick the weekend off right by looking back at some of our favorite things from the week. Ready? Let’s do it!
Housing assignments
The first year UChicago students received their housing assignments this week, and they’re being added to our house Facebook groups. This means lots of time for introductions and to chat with them online before they come to campus, and it’s always fun.
Clif Nut Butter Filled Bars
These were given away at the Big 10K last weekend, and since I haven’t seen them at stores, I clearly should have grabbed more. They are obviously (I think) not Paleo. They are, however, completely delicious. We all know that I love any and all nut butter, so these quite simply call to me. A cashew butter variation would be amazing, too.
Lazy mornings
I usually like to start my day productively. Most mornings this week, I have had doctor’s appointments or meetings – somewhere to be. Yesterday, I didn’t. Instead, I had a nice long morning… and it was awesome. I ate a big, spread out breakfast, got a little editing and blog work done, and just relaxed until about 10:45. After that, I worked out and took Pippa for a too-long walk to the park. I finally put on real clothes and did my hair by 1:30. I’d been feeling like I was fighting off sickness, so the extra rest was welcome.
North Market

I met up with my friends last night at North Market, which is an awesome marketplace filled with local (mostly food) vendors. We all grabbed dinner (a big pile of BBQ for me, and I got some macarons to bring to my parents) and caught up. I hadn’t seen two of them since they started their internships, so we had lots of chatting to do. And, really, even when we saw each other every day, we had lots of chatting to do.
Sunbutter
How did I go so long without trying SunButter? It may not be a nut butter, but it falls in the same category. Well, I picked it up this week and I’m in love. It’s so freaking creamy. Love.
And that’s all for me this week! Have a lovely weekend!
Loving lately: new @ClifBar, @NorthMarket, and nice mornings. #fitfluential #bgbcommunity Share on XYour turn:

Sunbutter – it’s not nut butter but it’s a good alternative. I really like Trader Joe’s version too.

I’ll have to try that! I love TJ’s 😀
Nut Butter filled ClifBars? I have got to try these!
THEY ARE AMAZING. And to echo Angela–the TJ’s version is probably top 3 fave nut butters!
Well, I know what I’ll be trying next!
You won’t regret it! They’re delicious!
My favorite sunflower seed butter is MaraNatha Sunflower with a “hint of sea salt.” Serious heaven. I would say almond and cashew are my two-favorites though. Love love lazy mornings. Happen a lot around here.
I’ll definitely try the MaraNatha! I have a jar of their almond butter right now. I’ve been rotating brands of everything because I can’t pick a favorite!
I used to say MaraNatha has the best sunflower butter, but I’ve been LOVING Once Again’s! Theirs is amazing!
I have a full apartment this year! So full kitchen! Wooooo!
Looks like I have another butter I need to try!
YAY! It’s the best! And I say that as someone with a very small (but still “full”) kitchen. A kitchen is a kitchen 😀
I saw those Clif bars at the grocery store! I wish I could eat soy because they look SO good. Cashew butter… sunbutter… any kind of flavored PB or almond butter… I really need to get started because I have so many different nut butters to try! 😛
There are so many butters and not enough time (or funds haha) to try them all. But I manage 😀
Isn’t Sun Butter AMAZING? I really love it, almost as much as PB. Those Clif Nut butter bars have been on my mind since I saw them on Susie’s blog. I can’t wait to try them soon. 🙂
Chatting with friends is such a blessing! I’m really grateful for friends that God gives me. 🙂
I hope you get to try them soon.
Friends – near and far – are wonderful indeed. Have a great weekend, Emily!
I somehow have yet to try Sunbather, I’ve seen it a few times this week though and I WILL be buying some at the store this weekend!
I certainly recommend it 😀 Have a lovely weekend!
Oh girl, sunbutter is my DRUG! Wo addicted! I also love Georgia Grinder’s cashew butter and I just splurged on some Binnie’s Coconut Butter: Dark Chocolate and Sea Salt. YUM!
Um. That coconut butter sounds INSANE. I need to look into getting some of that!
I loveee sunbutter… mind you, I’ve never met a nut butter I didn’t like 😛 I can never pick favourites either but I can’t get enough of Justin’s Vanilla Almond Butter at the moment so that may take the top spot!
We’re twins 😀 I’ve loved every nut butter I’ve ever tried. And that Vanilla Almond Butter is ahhhh-mazing.
That nut butter looked soo yummmmy! I am so glad I stumbled across your blog- it’s too cute.
– Currently loving Boom Chica Pop popcorn. It’s ah-may-zing!
– Favorite nut butter: Better n’ Peanut Butter
– This past weekend I visited Alcatraz in San Francisco. It’s a must for anyone! Really really cool experience.
Have a great week, girlie! xx
Thank you! So glad you stopped by 🙂
I love Boom Chicka Pop – it’s so crazy addictive!
And visiting Alcatraz was a total highlight of my San Francisco trip last year! We went on a nighttime tour and it was awesome. Have a lovely week, Mackenzie!
What?! They have a nighttime tour. Okay, totally doing that at some point. And thanks you too 🙂
I’ve never tried Sunbutter, I think mostly because I don’t loveeee sunflower seeds but it sounds kind of good! Maybe I’ll have to give it a try? Those nut butter filled clif bars sound awesome!
Well, I guess it does taste like sweet-and-salty sunflower seeds… so it might not be your fave. But if you try it and don’t like it, I’ll gladly take the leftovers 😉
