It’s Friday! Did you have a good week? Mine was laid-back, but it was kinda rough pain-wise, so I’m hoping that calms down soon. Today, my dad and I are headed out of town for a fairly last-minute trip that I will be sure to fill you in on Monday! Until then, follow along on Snapchat and Instagram story. Because until one of them totally takes over, I think I’ll be using both.
Anyway, for now, let’s kick off the weekend on a good note by looking back at some of our favorite things from this week. Ready? Let’s do it!
New shoes
At the runner’s clinic, they analyzed my feet while walking and running to make shoe recommendations. I tried all three of the shoe models suggested for me, and landed on the New Balance Vongo. I got mine this week, and I’m loving them. They feel nice and snug and supportive. And they’re pretty.
Essie GelCouture
Amanda mentioned this nail polish (and that she loves it) a while ago, but I haven’t been able to find it at Target… which is where I get 95% of everything. When I was at a regular grocery store with my dad last weekend, I spotted it and grabbed it immediately.

I love having my nails painted, but they chip so fast. I really love gel manicures, but they’re relatively expensive and they rip up my nails when I get the polish taken off. This should be the perfect solution, right? I’ve only had this on for a day, but that’s honestly longer than some nail polishes last. If this lasts a week with all the hand-washing I do, I’ll be happy.
The Americans (again)
As I’ve said, I’m not huge on just watching TV right now. It can be on in the background, but I have other stuff I want to be doing at the same time. So, I thought I was okay with my parents just continuing to watch The Americans without me. I was around when they had it on, though, and I got re-hooked. The characters are complex, and the plot is gripping and pretty unpredictable. Watch it!
Earlier bedtimes
I love sleep, but I don’t do much of it in the morning. I also like life and being awake, so I tend to stay up too late. This week, I been in bed before 10pm every night, and it hasn’t been that hard. I’m tired enough to go to bed earlier, so I might as well get some more sleep, right?
Zucchini chips
We talked about these yesterday, but let’s talk about them again because they’re so addictive! They’re thin and crispy and the easiest things in the world to make. As with any roasted vegetable, I pretty much could have eaten the whole batch immediately, but I wanted to see how they’d hold up if you somehow don’t eat them all immediately. They do – score! New shoes are the best! And this show is SO GOOD. I have a feeling we’ll watch a little less during the Olympics, but I’ll definitely be finishing it before I go back to school!
Let me know about the polish. I thought about getting some, and then remembered that I have 8075897 other polishes that I’ve not used recently. But then I also when apeshit on my nails the other day…
Hahaha yeah I have way too many nail polishes. It lasted me a solid 6 days and I fully believe that if I were better at painting my nails, it would have lasted longer. The only places it chipped are where I had bubbly paint. And it doesn’t tear up your nails when you take it off like regular gel does!
I haven;t bought new shoes in…..much too long :O It’s embarrassing!
Ah! Memories from childhood when we would always go to some Italian family dinner out and there would always be fried zucchini chips and this amazing red creamy dip on the table…so light and airy, they melted in your mouth! (That and fried calamari…we always had to have those ordered!) Those were the days 😉
That sounds delicious! I’m super intrigued by this dip ?
Funny story – I bought that nail polish because Amanda raved about it and… forgot to buy the top coat and I keep forgetting to go pick it up. Womp.
Halfway there 😉 I’m loving it so far! (I’m also realizing just how bad I am at painting my nails…)
:'( That makes me sad that you had a rough week pain wise. I really hope this next week is better. Praying for you. <3 And I love new shoes. I got some bright pink and blue shoes a couple months ago. They always make me happy when I see them.
I appreciate that so much, Emily. So far, so good!
I love that running shoes are such fun colors! Such a simple pleasure that never fails to make me smile 🙂
YUM! I need to try zucchini chips! I love any roasted veggies, but usually always make a pan of brussels sprouts for the week.
I love Brussels sprouts! And fortunately (?), my whole family hates them, so more for me 😉
mm i really gotta give those zucchini chips a try. they sound great. also i have no idea what i like better – snap or instasnap! right now i’m feeling so overwhelmed by both i legitimately stopped using them. THANKS A LOT INSTAGRAM.
I’m a little overwhelmed by it, too! What do I post where?

Ooh love the shoes! Also zucchini chips sound really great, I need to try them.
I have a pretty boring weekend ahead. Lots of study and assignments to complete.
I hope you had a productive weekend, my friend!
I’m taking the complete opposite approach as you- I’m not going to use either until it all gets sorted out. It’s too much! I will pop in and watch people’s stories, but for now, I’m too confused hehe.
Favorite shop: Target. No shame. I’m a mom at heart.
Favorite roasted veggie: peas! I had them in Spain almost everyday. Soooo delicious.
Weekend agenda: celebrating my birthday and packing for my move back to SD!
Hope you have a delightful weekend, Ellen. 🙂
That’s probably the smarter approach 😉
YES to Target. I can’t believe I’ve never had roasted peas! And I hope you had a wonderful weekend celebrating another year, Julia! 🙂
I am always in bed before 10pm and up at 6am and as for zucchini chips that stay crisp? Sign me up! <3
Me, too. Except today because of the Olympics 😛
Recipe soon! 😀

Thank you!
