Hello! Happy end-of-the-week! Has it been a good one for you? What’s on your agenda for the weekend? It’s been a generally lovely week over here, and it looks like a pretty low-key weekend, minus a little work on Saturday. And in all honesty, it’s pretty late Thursday night as I’m writing this, so let’s get right into talking about the little things I’m loving this week!
- This sign
If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve already seen this, but I came across it while browsing through a cute crafty store on Monday. This very well may be my most frequently asked question. Feed me!
{Greek salad}
{Cheesy garlic bread}
{Half meatball, half BBQ chicken pizza}
This is easily one of my favorite restaurants. The Greek salad here (no olives!) is one of my favorite salads, and the meatball pizza is probably my favorite one that I’ve tried, though I’ve never had a bad pizza here. My mom and I had a delicious, laid-back lunch here the other day and the meal was one of the best of the week.
- Visiting my aunt and cousins
{Sorry for the blurry picture. Mason is always on the move.}
Yesterday, my mom and I took a little road trip up to see my aunt and cousins. It had been a while since we had just gone up and hung out with them, and we realized it had been about a year since I’d been to their house. These four make me laugh and feel loved like just about no one else. They’re incredible and I love them to death. It was such a fun trip!
I’ve been playing this card game since I was probably 5 or 6 with my grandma and it’s become quite the family affair. For years, my mom, grandma, aunt, and I would play while the girls napped. We’ve recently gotten Kayla and Camryn into playing, with Mason occasionally “helping”. It’s fun, fast-paced, and always a laugh. It was nice to play for a little bit yesterday!
- Road trip snacks
I love road trips for many things: the view, the conversation, the destination, and the snacks. “Dessert” on the way home last night was a Snickers ice cream bar and a Dove dark chocolate bar. Yum.
What’s your favorite card game?
Ice cream or a candy bar?
What are some of your favorites from the week?

We need the WTF sign in our kitchen! So cute. My favorite card game is Crazy 8s!
EllenSlater says
Oh my goodness, I’d forgotten all about Crazy 8s! I used to play that all the time… might need to bring it back!
Pizza!!!!
Favorite card game…UNO!
I love Uno!
That cheesy garlic bread looks delicious! I’d definitely choose ice cream over a candy bar. Have a fantastic weekend, Ellen! 🙂
Ice cream wins every time for me, as well. Thanks, Julia! I hope you’re enjoying your birthday weekend 🙂
Huge YES to the ‘where’s the food’ sign. That is basically where my eyes set out to wander whenever I go someplace new!
Also, ice-cream over candy bars for sure!
Please teach me how to play card games, it is so embarrassing whenever I am with people and I haven’t got the slightest clue on what I am supposed to do :P.
Haha if I go to any meetings/clubs at school… I search for food first. I mean, you can’t invite a bunch of young adults somewhere and not serve food, riiiight? 😉
Same!
It is funny how if you don’t grow up playing cards, you struggle with it a lot more. My family always has, but I have friends who just look at me like I’m crazy when I know how a poker hand works or something. But I have gotten pretty good at teaching games, so if you’re ever in the area, we could play a hand or two 🙂
Cousins are awesome, aren’t they? I miss my cousins SO, SO much!! I’m glad you got a chance to visit yours. Visiting family is simply the best.
That restaurant looks amazing! I’m not a big olive fan either…but your food looked scrumptious!
Probably my favorite card game would be either Cribbage (if that counts) or Gin Rummy. I still play both games with my grandparents, who taught them to me, all the time when I see them.
Ice cream all the way! I adore pretty much any frozen dessert! Candy bars are just not my thing.
Five things I’m loving this week…
1) The privilege of air conditioning. Remember that sun and heat I was (and still am) loving? Well, I can’t sleep in it…and sometimes it’s nice during the day to walk into a blast of cool air as you open the door to one of the bedrooms (we don’t have whole house air conditioning).
2) Tie-dye. I love it, any way, shape or form. I could spend so much money at a tie-dye shop. I already have a tie-dye hoodie and I’ve been wanting a t-shirt for forever…and yesterday, I found one!! It just made me so happy!! 🙂
3) ALL the fresh fruit!! I know you and others have been saying this for awhile, but I think just about now is when the fruit gets cheaper around here. We have more fruit than we can eat! This last week, a friend brought us a huge TUB of farm-fresh blueberries…now, I’ve never met a blueberry I liked, but these were pretty yummy and I found myself eating them by the handfuls. 🙂
4) Fridays!!! I always love Fridays, but this one just seems to be extra-exciting/fun/good-to-be-on-this-side-of-the-weekend…for whatever reason. 😉
5) Discovering new blogs to read/browse/maybe spend too much time on? Anyhow, I love “meeting” new people via the internet and reading their ideas, thoughts and recipes.
Hope you’re able to relax this weekend! Have a fabulous one, Ellen! <3
I love Gin! My parents have a lifetime (well, since they’ve known each other) game going. The scores are pretty ridiculous, but I do believe my dad is winning.
Ice cream is my fave <3
1.) Haha I love the feeling after I come in from a long walk and get blasted with air. It's awesome.
2.) Have you ever tie-dyed things on your own? So fun!
3.) Yesssss.
4.) Also, YES.
5.) I love that, too! I adore the exchange of ideas on the internet.
Thanks, Hannah! Hope you're having a wonderful weekend!!
Yes, actually, when I was little, my grandma bought one of those do-at-home kits and she did it with me and my sibs as a fun grandparent-grandkids project. It *was* a ton of fun, and I was super-sad when I grew out of that shirt!
That sign!! I love it! I need it in T-shirt form!
I am glad you got to spend some time with family this week. That’s always the best.
We always used to play Rook growing up.
I would SO buy that T-shirt!
I’ve never played Rook before. I’ll have to look into that one! Have a lovely weekend, Heather!
That cheesy garlic bread <3
I'm gonna have to go with ice cream, but that answer is probably influenced by how hot it is!
I was in Disney World on Monday so I think that wins by default 😉
Have a good weekend!!
Ice cream is fabulous anytime, but I agree that the heat ups the appeal 🙂
Oh my goodness! I love Disney World! YES, that absolutely wins.
Thanks, Michelle, I hope you’re having a wonderful weekend!
You’re killing me with the pizza pictures! The cheese bread looks especially yummy right now. I love the simple stuff!
I’m so glad you got to visit your cousins; it sounds like you guys had a great time together! I love people like that, and it seems like kids are especially good at it. But to me, there is nothing like visiting with family. It’s fun when we have stuff in common, and interesting the things that are different. It’s just altogether the best!
My favorite card game is probably Cribbage. I don’t know a lot of games, though. =S
I’ve never had an ice cream bar before, but if it was between ice cream and a candy bar, the ice cream would win for sure. Candy bars are just a bit too sweet I guess. Although maybe it’s because they are almost all covered with milk chocolate instead of dark chocolate. <3 I like dark chocolate candy bars! 😀
I’m usually an “all the things on my pizza” girls, but I still always love the classic cheese <3
You said it beautifully. Family is the best.
I've never played that one! I might have to check it out.
Ice cream wins for me, too! And dark chocolate > milk chocolate.
Have a wonderful Sunday, Abbie!
