Happy Friday! How was your week? It went by super quickly for me, so I certainly can’t complain. Still, though, I’m ready for the weekend. I hope you are, too, and you have a good balance of fun and relaxation on tap! And before we get to all that fun and relaxation, let’s look back at the good stuff from the week. Sound good? Let’s do it.
My dad’s burgers
We’ve had burgers on the weekly menu for a few weeks and we finally actually got to them. (Stuff often gets put off due to laziness or other evening engagements.) I know I’ve said it before, but my dad grills what are pretty much my favorite burgers ever. I topped mine with homemade ketchup and spicy brown mustard, and that simple dinner was freaking delicious.
People who let you turn left
It rained yesterday, and you probably know that rush hour traffic in the rain is the worst. Honestly, it was barely drizzling, but people just lose their ability to drive in the rain. Anyway, I was leaving the wrong destination (I didn’t know where I was going) and heading to the right one, and needed to turn left in all this icky traffic. I was fully prepared to just turn right and turn around later, but some lovely human being let me turn left immediately. Random acts of kindness, people. They’re real and they’re so nice.
My foam roller
I have this foam roller and I love (to hate) it. Since I’m doing this whole running a race thing for real, the deal I made with myself is to be super on top of my recovery and taking care of myself. That means my foam roller and I are getting extra friendly. Because I’m not going to get hurt. Nope. Not happening.
Year of Yes

When my aunt agreed to run Disney with me (thanks, Kim!), she said that she was listening to Year of Yes and Shonda Rhimes basically told her to. I asked if she was enjoying it and she said yes and that I should listen. Yesterday, my mom downloaded it and we listened to it in one day. Shonda reads it herself, and is hilarious and honest and amazing.
I don’t know what “yes” I need to say. But I’m definitely thinking about it. Listen to it – or read it, if that’s your thing. 🙂
All the chocolate
I went to a newly-opened Whole Foods last week to explore and find fun new things to eat. I also, honestly, was on the hunt for dark chocolate, having finished off my stash. One of my life rules is to always have chocolate on hand. And, well, I didn’t know how to decide which chocolate to buy. So I got several. In case you were wondering, they’re all great. Want extra-dark? Go for the Chocolove or Green & Black. Something a little softer? Those Theo bars are for you. The moral of the story?
If you can’t decide what chocolate to buy, you should definitely buy them all.
When you can't choose which chocolate to buy, buy them all. #bgbcommunity #fitfluential Share on XYour turn:

You dad’s burgers look SO good. Jealous! Also, a new Whole foods sounds so fun /super dangerous. Ours is pretty far from us and I’m kind of glad, ha! Have a great weekend, Ellen!!

OMG Whole Foods are always dangerous. Fortunately, our aren’t exactly close… we just happened to be in the neighborhood 🙂
Mmmm all that chocolate! Especially the extreme dark stuff… I love super intense chocolate! This week I’ve been loving a coconut flour pancake recipe that I found through a blog. I was dubious that they would actually turn out to be normal pancakes, but they’re delicious! 😀
Super intense dark chocolate is my fave! Oooh where’d you find the recipe? I’d love to give it a shot!
Here! 🙂 http://nomnompaleo.com/post/9199871590/cinnamon-and-coconut-pancakes

I agree with Morgan. Your dad’s burgers look amazing. Burgers are one of my favorite foods. That ‘year of yes’ book looks interesting. I would be interested to hear more about it! 🙂 Also, one of my life rules? I think ‘focus on the people in front of me’ instead of always wanting to ‘change the world.’ My goal is to love the people that are in my life right now.
Year of Yes really did make me think. I’ll try to get my thoughts together for a post 🙂
And I LOVE your life rule. I’m so guilty of wanting to move onto the future and figure everything out that I skip over the good stuff in the now.
A new whole foods! What a lucky girl! There are ZERO Whole Foods in like a 50 mile radius of me :'(
Whoa. Well, at least you don’t spend all your money there…?
Your Dad’s burgers look SERIOUSLY good!
Umm… can we be roomies are share your chocolate stash? Holy yum! 😉 (I’ll share mine too!)
OMG yes. Blogger roomies would be the best 😀 The food (and pictures) would be unreal!
