Hi hi hi. Happy Friday! I hope you’ve had a fabulous week and are looking forward to a nice relaxing weekend (or hey, maybe a really exciting one). Anyway, I like to think the best way to end the week is by looking back at some of the things that made it lovely. Here goes!
- Chocolate Chili Milano cookies
Okay, so Milano cookies are classic. These really aren’t spicy or that different than the original version, so I probably mostly love them out of nostalgia. I’m convinced that they have a little extra depth of flavor, though, and I’ve been enjoying them a lot.
- White Converse
They will get dirty. I’m aware of that. But while they’re clean, they look like spring and I love them so very much.
- Um… spring
I need to stop with all the love for the weather, but last week was rainy and gross. This week is the opposite. Everything is stunning. Can I please spend all my time hanging out outside and taking it all in?
- Chocolate-covered espresso beans
I don’t like coffee at all, but these are all kinds of amazing. They’re a quick source of delicious, non-Diet Coke caffeine. My chocolate cravings and caffeine needs are simultaneously satisfied.
- Communication (and the aid of modern technology)
You might have gathered that I like to talk. I also love that I am not only surrounded with people to talk to at school, but that I have the ability to talk to (okay, text) people from all different times of my life. I look to them often for support and guidance, as well as to reminisce, commiserate, and share stories. Anyway, people and talking and listening can be amazing. Thanks for being part of that.
Have a beautiful weekend!
What are your favorite nostalgic snacks? Oh my, this could be its own post…
Do you require caffeine? What’s your favorite source?
What are some of your favorites from the week?

I used to love milano cookies! Not that particular flavor, but I went through a bag easily in one sitting in college. Probably one of the 10,000 reasons I gained so much weight in college … 😉

Hahaha I can definitely see doing that… and I’ve done it with Oreos a few too many times. Oh well! College is about living and experiences (and mistakes 😉 ), not eating absolutely perfectly. 🙂
I LOVE white converse. They go with everything! <3
YES. I feel kinda stylish/put together wearing them, which is a big deal for me, since I basically just throw on clothes. 🙂
I totally agree about nostalgic foods being its own post (you should do it! Especially as I know I’m not thinking of all the nostalgic foods from my childhood…). There are a ton that hold special food-emotion-places in my heart. 😉 One is this snack mix my mom used to make whenever we went on vacation and we’d eat it on the road. We called it Interstate Mix, and it had all sorts of yummies, like M&Ms, Nutter Butters, Famous Amos, peanuts, pretzels…it was the best, and I want some now!! Also, another that stands out are Bugles. My sister always used to call them “horns” when she was little, and we used to stick them on our fingers and eat them off one by one. 😛 Oh, Ellen, there’s just too many!!
I don’t require caffeine like 98% of the time, buuut, there is that 2%, and, plus I love mochas! 🙂
It’s Friday! Time for some favs!
1) Playing around on my brother’s iPhone. My dad working for Microsoft almost my entire growing-up meant not only that Microsoft products were cheaper and we always had a ready-and-available tech guy who knew how everything worked, but also that now Microsoft stuff is what is intuitive to my brain. Now my dad doesn’t work for Microsoft anymore, plus I’m not really liking the way the hardware of the Windows Phone is going, so I’m thinking that my next phone will probably be an iPhone. Since my brother just got one, he graciously let my sibs and I explore around on it, so we can get as much experience with the iOS as we can. And I realized that, as long as I didn’t have the pressure of having to learn something new *while* trying to get something done, I kind of love learning a new OS. It’s super fun, kind of like a challenge, a brain puzzle.
2) Have you ever had chickens? Yeah, well, the actual chickens aren’t my favorite today (we’ve only had up to 5 because we live in a development, but they are a lot of work for not enough return in our opinion 😉 ), but if you’ve ever seen hens pecking away at something, then you’ll understand when I say that all the little hen butts sticking up in the air are the just about most hilarious I’ve seen this week! I laugh every time…so funny-looking!
3) My hair! I got it cut! And it feels amazing! So much lighter…plus shorter = easier to straighten, and I like my hair straightened. 🙂
4) Dialing up the saturation on my pictures. short-sleeves!! I do not like anything longer than short-sleeves, and with the recent chilly snap, I remembered how much I dislike long-sleeves, and then was SO grateful when I could switch again! Come on, summer!!
I’ll for sure do a snack post 😀 Not sure when, but I’m loving all the ideas. Thanks for the encouragement <3
1.) I love Apple products. I thought I'd hate my MacBook Pro after living with PCs for years, but I transitioned so easily and ugh I might be too spoiled to go back? I'm an Apple person, I think. Also, I love learning new things, too!
2.) I've never had chickens, but I can imagine. That's too funny!
3.) Yay! Haircuts are totally transformative. Even when there isn't a huge change, you just feel so much better. And I love how much easier it is to straighten/manage after a haircut!
4.) I love short-sleeve weather! It's the best 😀
girl I should have just paid you to write a Friday fave post for me because I agree with all of these! especially those cookies. they are literally the BEST ever

Lovely Little Rants
Thanks so much, Candace! Get yourself some of those cookies 🙂
For my high school graduation, we were required to wear white or tan shoes, so I took that as the opportunity to finally splurge on some white converse. All my teenage years, I had wanted a pair, but I never worked up the courage to spend money on something I KNEW would get dirty. But I am proud to say that I have had them for almost a year now (where does time go?!?!?!) and they are still in decent shape! It takes a little work, but you can maintain them for quite some time.
Favorite nostalgic snacks: not really a “snack” but shell pasta really gives me the feels.
I don’t necessarily require caffeine, but a cup or two of coffee certainly does perk me up.
Have a lovely weekend, Ellen!
Love that you treated yourself to something you really wanted! And thanks – it’s nice to know that I can keep them in good shape.
I definitely love some good pasta 🙂
Thanks, Julia! I hope you have a wonderful weekend, as well!
I wouldn’t say that I NEED coffee, but I definitely love it! There are days where I don’t feel tired or even like I want a cup of coffee, but I have one anyways because it’s just so comforting 😆 And I’d have to say a snack that brings back a tonne of nostalgia would be plain old buttered toast with honey. So simple, but so good!
I find sipping on tea (or even hot water – is that weird?) really comforting, so I totally see where you’re coming from there. Oooh sometimes I get a craving for buttered toast (sometimes with cinnamon-sugar), but I’ve never tried adding honey! That sounds fantastic 😀
Those espresso beans do sound really good! I don’t drink coffee, but I absolutely love coffee ice cream! Coffee heath bar, coffee chip, or coffee with oreo are all amazing <3
I like coffee ice cream, too (probably because it tones down the bitterness) – and coffee ice cream with Oreos sounds like something I totally need to try! Thanks for the suggestion and have a wonderful weekend 🙂
First off, HOORAAAY for Spring! I live in California and am spoiled rotten with weather, but there’s something about the extra brightness and green of Spring that make me so happy :). Secondly, those chocolate covered espresso beans. <3 <3 LOVE.
Oooh California weather is pretty fabulous all the time 😉 I do agree that there is just a nice “new” feeling to spring, regardless! 🙂 And OMG yes. They’re heavenly <3
My favorite nostalgia snack has to be Munch’ems. I don’t think they make them anymore. Boo! Thankfully, I do not require caffeine to function. (Hallelujah!) Hmm.. one of my favorites this week would have to be spring, also. Those photos are simply stunning!
I’ve never had Munch’ems! Sad that they discontinued them 🙁 Thanks, Alison! Have a lovely Sunday 🙂
I’m so sorry I haven’t commented this week…time has gotten the better of me and slipped away. I wanted to respond to your post on Monday, but haven’t had a chance. 🙁
I can’t have coffee, because it makes me light-headed…ugh! But I do like chocolate covered coffee beans…I just have to be careful! I haven’t noticed caffeine having that much of an effect on me, but if it did, I would probably choose Coke Zero as my caffeine of choice!
Just popping in with a couple favorites…is it ok to talk Friday favorites on Monday? I hope so…
1. My new shoes. I got a pair of new gray Converse for my birthday (kind of weird that you mentioned converse in your post…my sister also just got a new pair, so it was like this big Converse thing going on!), and my parents bought me two other pairs of Airwalks just because. I am so excited to wear them all!
2. Being able to work my volunteer shift at the Humane Society again. Because of sickness and vacation, I hadn’t been there in almost a month, and it was so nice to be back and get into the groove again, as well as seeing everybody!
3. Is it ok to say the weather again? It can be a bonus… No joke it is 75 (and sunny!) here. Little kids in kiddy pools or biking around the neighborhood…it is so lovely!
Aw I totally understand. I hope it was a good busy time!
1. Haha I have gray Converse I love, too!
2. That’s so nice. It does feel good to get back into a routine after some time off.
3. Of course! Let the weather make you happy – it’s beautiful and you can’t do anything about it even if it’s not 🙂
Oh my goodness, chocolate covered espresso beans sound fantastic! Chocolate + coffee sound like a winning combo to me 🙂
Oh, they sure are! I highly recommend the pair 🙂
