Happy Friday! Do you have fun weekend plans? I have – drumroll please – a lot of work to do, so study groups will be a thing. Also, probably a yoga class tomorrow night, a few walks in the GORGEOUS spring weather, some reading, and probably not a whole lot else. As I’m writing this, I’m feeling that I come across as incredibly lame and obsessive about schoolwork, but the goal for my weekends these days isn’t to have the best time ever, just to start the next crazy-busy week in a good place. Anyway… this has been a pretty good week and I think it’s only right to end it by looking back at some of my favorite things about it. Here we go!
- Massage
I have a membership to Massage Envy, and I have been seriously preferring to save my visits until I’m home because there’s a very strong massage therapist there that I love, and I haven’t been that happy with any of the ones I’ve seen here. However, I didn’t get around to scheduling one over spring break, so I had an extra visit floating in my account. I figured I’d give the nearby location a shot again last Friday and I’m so glad I did. It was exactly what I needed after a rough week, and I’m actually going back tonight. Massage is one of those things I thought I’d never like before I started having pain issues and now I can’t get enough. Seriously, can I hire a live-in massage therapist?
I really like taking pictures. I really like Instagram. But I sometimes don’t know what to share or what to take pictures of, and the prompts for the challenge help me get a little bit creative and keep my posting consistent. It’s super fun to see everyone else’s takes on the prompts, too. Love it!

I’ve made a lot of banana bread. This stuff is so good and so chocolatey and so moist. I made a loaf (using cashew butter instead of almond butter because it’s what I had on hand) last Saturday afternoon and enjoyed it all week. Aside from the chocolate chips, there’s no added sugar, but you’d never know it because it’s so sweet and soft. Definitely a new go-to for me!
- Prospies
It’s the time of the year when high school seniors are finalizing their college plans, which means they come visit and “experience college”. Which is a total lie, since one night and half a day with, you know, no schoolwork to do really tells you almost nothing. That said, it’s really fun to have them here and talk to them. Choosing college is such an exciting time, and watching other people go it makes me smile.
- Playing with breakfast
Before last week, aside from maybe 5 or so breakfast/brunches/days when I was fasting for something medical, I had had Greek yogurt and a banana and cereal for breakfast every day for at least 4 years. Probably longer, honestly. Why? It’s tasty. It has protein and calcium and a bunch of other healthy stuff. And it was habit. I never had to think about breakfast. But I guess suddenly I wanted to think about breakfast…? So I’ve been making all sorts of fun things and loving it. I’m hoping to share a collection of some of my fun-but-still-easy-and-healthy finds soon!
How did you decide where to go to college?
Favorite breakfast?
What are you loving this week?

I didn’t decide on my college until a week before I had to send my decision. It was a choice of pragmatism in some ways, but in the end, I couldn’t have asked for anything better!

I adore happy college stories 😀
Haha yea, an orientation or visit…it’s all just lies. You don;t know how anything will be until you are thrown right in!
Banana bread <3 (I bought bananas this week to make some!)
Lame (maybe) but I've been obsessed with Kix for breakfast!
Cereal is sooo not lame! 😀
I remember doing a shadow program at Miami before deciding, so I could sit in on a few classes. The person I shadowed knew how to glamorize the college experience!
P.S. Love your new layout!
I think it’s easy to glamorize, but not all that helpful in the long run! Thanks so much, Emily!

I am 100% with you on the Instagram challenge. 🙂 It really inspires me looking at all the bloggers different food/lives/adventures.
Everyone is so creative!
Ooh, I need to check out that banana bread – I’m a total junkie!
I ❤️ banana bread!
My favorite breakfast is anything that can be topped with peanut butter. I’ve been loving banana bowls lately because they are so creamy and sweet. I have a huge knot in my back that I’ve been working on the past few days…so a massage might be nice for me. Have a great weekend Ellen 🙂
I hope your back feels better and you have a lovely weekend, Ellie!
That banana bread has me drooling. I used to have a membership at Massage Envy too!! This just reminded me how much I miss it. It’s so worth the money.
I so agree! It’s good to take a little time for yourself once in a while 🙂
That banana bread look straight up delicious. I’m dying! As far as college goes – I ended up going somewhere that a few friends from church went, at least that’s how I first heard about it. Then after I visited it, I knew it was the right place! Of course if I could go back in time I’d change my major completely, but I’m sure every grad thinks that!
Haha I’m nearly done with my major and kind of thinking the same, but it’s all good. I’ve learned a lot, and ultimately that’s what matters 🙂
I just pinned that banana bread recipe. It looks so yummy.
It’s absolutely delicious!
I was going to say that I need a live in massage therapist… but to be honest I make Jesse give me a massage almost every night haha! Being married has to have perks, right? Mind you, he’s not the same as a good massage therapist… nothing beats that blissed out post massage feeling when you have a good massage!
My current favourite breakfast? Breakfast bakes with dark chocolate dreams PB. Dessert for breakfast 😛
LOL just another thing to look forward to about marriage, eh? 🙂
Ooh that breakfast sounds amazing. LOVE that peanut butter!
Well, breakfast is my favorite meal of the day, so I am trying to be super creative, you know. My current favorite is chocolate oats pancake (you saw it on my blog ;)) And I change things there again: eggs will be my new go-to!
Variety is a good thing 😀
I fell in love with the campus of the college I went to. In college I ate cereal and yogurt everyday for breakfast. Now I’m hooked on a having a green smoothie after my morning workout and some oatmeal once I get to work. Funny how we get hooked on different things and stick to them for awhile.
I definitely have food phases like that!

I’m thinking I would love to try that coconut flour banana bread. 🙂
I think you’d love it! And it’s delicious smeared with peanut butter 😀
