Ending the week on the end of the month makes the perfectionist part of me very happy. And it’s been a pretty decent week, so that makes me even happier. I have my first Economics of Sports class this morning, and I’m not totally sure what’s on my agenda for the weekend besides a massage and some reading, but I’ll figure it out as I go. Before we get there, let’s talk about our favorites from the past week. Sound good? Sweet.
Bodega
It already feels like ages ago, but last Friday night, my mom and I went to Bodega for dinner. We shared/demolished an order of truffle fries and got drinks and tacos. The carnitas one was my favorite, but that’s not to say anything was not good about the carne asada. It was delicious and we will totally be back. If you’re in Columbus, go!
Getting the class I wanted
So. It’s not official, but it’s kind of official and I’m so happy about it. The teacher and TAs can’t get the online adding system to work and have submitted requests for tech help, but the TAs have told me I’m in. Halle-freaking-lujah. Not only do I find the economics of health and healthcare more interesting than finance (though I’m sure finance is very valuable), but the workload is much lighter and the teacher seems… more promising. He knows what he’s doing, while my finance teacher is like, “This is really difficult material and it’s my first time teaching. Let’s see how this goes.” Anyway, I’m getting the health textbook this weekend, so… it better be official soon?
Arm balances
Last night, I went to an hour and a half arm balance and inversion workshop at CorePower and it was awesome. It wasn’t a traditional flow, but there were flowy elements to help loosen us up. Practicing arm balances on my own used to freak me out, but I’m going to try more now that I’ve had a thorough introduction. Anyway, I managed Headstand with a spot, and started working into Eight-Angle Pose, Hurdler’s Pose, and Firefly Pose
JicaChips
I am not a huge chip person, but sometimes I have a craving. And sometimes I just want to check out the new products I see. And these are incredible. I love fresh jicama for it’s sweet, crunchy self, and these live up to that (duh, they’re pretty much just jicama), but instead of being juicy, they are super crisp. There’s also a chili lime flavor I’m dying to try!
Nikki’s Coconut Butter
It’s like… not-too-sweet fudge in a jar. I got the Dark Chocolate Fudge, because chocolate. It’s equally good on sweet potatoes and toast and bananas and spoons.
Between @ColumbusBodega, @JicaChips, and coconut butter, it's been a pretty delicious week. Share on XYour turn:
Chips or fries?
What’s your plan for the weekend?
What are you loving this week?

Jicachips are pretty good, but I will take fresh jicama over them every day. I love fries, as you know, but truffle fries are a very fine line with me. YAY for getting into the class that you wanted! i know that the system there is less than desirable. And luckily, with teacher training, you already know a bit about leading a class!

Agree on the jicama. I feel like finding it is a struggle. Where do you get yours?
Still really wanting to try Nikki’s coconut butter; I’ve heard nothing but good things about it! I’m so excited that you got the class you wanted; that’s a huge blessing.
Bodega looks really good.
Jicachips also sound interesting; I would love to try that!
Your love Nikki’s!!
I’m not a huge fan of regular potatoes (I know, who am I) but sweet potato fries any day! We’re making turkey burgers and sweet potato fries for dinner tonight and I’m excited!
We have nooo plans for the weekend (and that sounds great with me, haha). I hope yours is a good one, Ellen! 🙂
I’m actually with you on the potatoes. I only really eat them fried ? Sweet potatoes, however, I eat pretty much every day!
Hope you had a great chill weekend!
Right now I’m craving both chips and fries, so I’m going to say I’m a “both girl.” Though sweets usually win out for me in any case. I’d loovveee to find me those jicama fries. Never heard of them! And Nikki’s butters are something I’ve been seeing and dying to try… but I don’t think we get them in Canada. Boooo.
Congratulations on getting into that class!! What a relief! And awesome job on the arm balancing. Those feel sooooo satisfying when you get them.
Both is an excellent answer! ?
Fries 100% of the time. And no big plans for me this weekend, besides some much-needed extra sleep and rest. Congrats on getting the class – keeping my fingers crossed everything works out! And Nikki’s Coconut Butter is soooooo addictive!
Hope you had a wonderful restful weekend!
GIRL, you are speaking my language with your opening sentence. I like when things end on a Friday. Haha such a weird quirk, but glad to see I’m not the only one who thinks that way! YAY for getting the class you want. Registration is a nuisance- one part of college I definitely won’t miss.
Between chips or fries, I’d probably go for fries. Even then, I’d rather have onion rings. 😉
Have a fabulous weekend!
Same! I’m so glad that with study abroad I don’t have to go through registration! And yessss to onion rings. I haven’t had those in ages!
Mmm I’m gonna say fries. This weekend is the end of daylight savings for us so that’s a bummer. Here comes winter and darkness! But at least we got an extra hour of sleep.
Time for cozy evenings and lots of warm drinks ?
Boo to not getting the class you wanted! 🙁
See the whole chips vs fries thing is kind of confusing in Australia because we call hot potato chips = chips (as in any kind of potato fries – thick/thin/crinkle cut whatever) and then we also call crunchy crisps chips too…. But somehow we know what we’re talking about? Though most people will say “chips” vs “hot chips” hahaha.
Oh that’s so funny! It’s interesting how people have those local phrases that they just understand even if they make no sense to outsiders ?
I want to try that coconut butter. Also jealous of that arm balance workshop-been dying to go to a workshop like that!!
