That’s how I feel about today. It’s the end of a week and the second full day of my spring break. Aaand I’m going to spend it shopping with my mom and eating delicious food and catching up with some friends from high school. I’m super excited, if you couldn’t tell 😉
Obviously, my last week or so has been full of finals, so that part wasn’t particularly amazing, but it’s still been a really good one overall. (Do I say that every week? Or something like it? Yes? Hm. Well, my life is full of studying and fun and I love both, apparently.) I’ve shown you a lot of what’s made it so great lately, but I’ll show you again (and throw in some new stuff!) as a nice, positive way to end the week.
These are adorable and delicious. And the frosting is the most perfect cream cheese frosting I’ve ever had. And they were a surprise from my lovely parents. I’ll be enjoying them again this weekend when I get together with my family to celebrate mine and my cousin’s birthdays, and I’m already looking forward to it.
- Driving
Especially given how beautiful UChicago is, I have to say that I really do like walking pretty much everywhere when I’m at school. That said, whenever I come home and get in my car, I remember how much I love to drive. It feels freeing and oddly natural and I completely adore it.
The Greek salad at Dewey’s Pizza is easily one of the best, most flavorful salads I’ve ever had. The feta cheese is nice and creamy, the roasted garlic is soft and mellow, and the chunky red pepper vinaigrette is divine. And the pizza? The crust is light and buttery and the toppings taste so fresh. I had four slices of the meatball pizza, which I think is my favorite variety. 🙂
- Getting my hair cut
This is silly, especially since I don’t really change anything about my style when I get my hair cut. However, I’ve had people totally mess it up in the past, so I stick with the same (amazing) stylist. This means I only get my hair cut when I’m home. My hair gets super thick in the back in the ~10 weeks between cuts, though, and I’m pretty sure nothing feels as fabulous as getting it “debulked”.
- Ben & Jerry’s
I love ice cream. And I think that description speaks for itself.
What’s your favorite pizza?
What’s your favorite ice cream flavor?
What are you loving this week?

Haha I agree 😉 Thanks! You, too!
I think it is so cool that you are such good friends with your parents…that is uncommon nowadays, which is a shame.
Lol…the haircut. It is the exact same thing for us! We have had salons mess us up so many times, and then we met a friend who had gone to beauty school and she agreed to cut our hair. She does a fantastic job, and does it how we like it, and not just in her favorite style. Unfortunately, she isn’t available to cut our hair until August, and I am dying because it’s been like 4-6 months already! We are thinking about trying some salon, but haven’t decided which one. =S
Favorite pizza? Right now, it’s probably PJ’s Tuscan Cheese with garlic sauce. Although I love Margarita, when I can get it. =D
Favorite ice cream is hard…traditionally, I’m a chocolate girl, and I used to love Tillamook’s Mudslide, but they’ve changed the recipe (less chocolate and less fudge) and it’s not nearly as good, IMO. My new favorite is Costco’s Vanilla ice cream. It has a lovely texture and flavor, and it’s very versatile. I can make it be chocolate with some fudge sauce. =D I have never really had Ben and Jerry’s, or anything fancy, so I can’t speak to that…I don’t know what I’m missing!
Things I’m loving this week:
1. Whippets. Sounds weird, but I’ve been researching them a lot recently, and every day that goes by, I fall more in love with them.
2. The dryer. There is nothing that makes you appreciate this appliance more than when it breaks down. (Same thing goes for the dishwasher, but thankfully, it’s been about a year since that happened!) Now that it is up and running again, I am really loving it.
3. Costco. Where else could you return partially used Lysol, and one bag (from a two-pack) of moldy jerky (still well within the best-by date) and get a full refund? Or get six pairs of Keds no-show cotton socks for a little over $6 total? Or get Organic Carrots for the same price per lb. we were paying at Fred Meyer for non-organic? All this made me realize how much I love Costco. =D Oh, and the fact that we just found out that the Kirkland Signature dog food was better quality than the expensive stuff we’ve been buying for the last 10 years. And it’s half the price. Yep. Costco rocks. =D
4. My dog. Even though he’s not the best fit for me, I love him to death, and he impresses me every day with how good he is. And there is nothing like his deep chocolate eyes! (I agree with what you said about your dog, BTW =D)
5. This thing called a FurIzzy. I know it’s another dog thing, BUT it’s super awesome if you have a dog that sheds, and especially at this time of year! It’s literally a rake for your dog, but it has all these nubs and stuff so that it massages the dog and grooms it at the same time! And the dogs love it! Even our little Papillion mix likes it, despite it being the same size as her. ;P
Eek I love that pizza, too! And, uh, how could you alter a recipe to include less chocolate?!? Surefire way to make it less fabulous 😉
I love all your dog talk! And yes, whippets are pretty cool.
I adore the idea of Costco so much, but I totally don’t need much stuff in bulk. Maybe when I have a family someday it’ll make more sense for me?
Yeah, I still live at home, otherwise it would be WAY too much for just me! =P
There’s a margarita pizza at one of my favorite Italian restaurants, it is delicious! It has cheese, tomato, and basil.
My favorite ice cream flavor is Ben & Jerry’s Phish Food or Half Baked. I really want to try the Peanut Butter Half Baked, yum! 🙂
Hope you have a relaxing spring break and enjoy the time with your family!
I love margherita pizza! Simple and classic 😀
Ahh yes. Those are some of my favorites. You can’t go wrong with cookie dough and brownie bites. Or fudge and marshmallow with caramel. Utterly impossible.
I hope you have an amazing break! I always schedule my hair cuts for school breaks too. Even though I don’t really get much done besides a trim 🙂
Thanks! And yeah, it feels best to be on the safe side when it comes to your hair 🙂
I love Naan pizza where the “sauce” is hummus and then topped with olives, roasted red peppers and cheese. My favorite ice cream is honestly vanilla with rainbow sprinkles. If there are no sprinkles, it is not ice cream 🙂 This week I’m loving feeling like I work hard. My job has been stressful, but I’ve gotten through it. I feel really great about that!
Ooh I like that make-your-own style 😀 And I love the simple amazingness of your ice cream pick!! Whenever I get sprinkles, I always wonder why I don’t ALWAYS get sprinkles.
I’m so glad your job has been going well and you’ve been managing the stress. That’s the best feeling! 🙂
Oh man, you’re so talking my lingo…pizza and ice cream are two of my favorite foods!! Papa John’s Tuscan Six-Cheese pizza with their alfredo sauce is pretty much The Best!!! Though almost any Papa John’s pizza is good in my book! 🙂
I used to adore Dairy Queen’s Midnight Truffle blizzard…but they in the last couple of years, they took out some of the gooey, chocolate-y-ness and now it’s just pretty good. Favorite flavor to buy from the store would probably be Tillamook’s Mud Slide, though I also like cookie dough. 🙂 That Ben and Jerry’s flavor sounds delectable…I’ve never had Ben and Jerry’s.
Love the Fri-Yay!!! 😛 Hurrah! Loving this week…
1) My naturopath. She is so awesome, puts you at ease and makes you feel comfortable, and is so easy to talk to, I feel like I could say almost anything to her and she’d understand.
2) Yellow mustard. Okay, it you didn’t already know I was weird…I absolutely love yellow mustard. And not just on typical foods, like normal people. I like it on weird stuff. And when that doesn’t satiate my craving, I will resort to a spoon. Yeah, weird. 😛
3) Just started listening to “The Dragon’s Tooth” by N. D. Wilson on audio and am spellbound so far (yes, I like a lot to kid-lit… 🙂 )
Congratulations on being done with finals!! Hope you have a spectacular break! 😛
I love Papa John’s, as well 🙂 And it’s been FOREVER since I’ve had one, but I absolutely adore Dairy Queen’s Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Blizzards.
1.) People/professionals like that are the best! So glad you found someone you like.
2.) I really like mustard and can honestly eat it with a spoon, as well. Sometimes, when I spread it on a sandwich or something I put too much on for the bread to hold just so I can scrape it off and lick it off the knife. It’s weird, I know.
3.) Haha no judgment! Audiobooks are great. Enjoy!!
Thanks 😀 I sure hope to!
Hi! I’m Danielle! I just started blogging so I figured I’d introduce myself. 🙂
Pizza and ice cream are right up my alley. I’ve never had meatball pizza but it looks so good. My favorite pizza is classic cheese pizza with ranch. Also, I always make pita pizzas with goat cheese and spinach which is easy and delicious!
Have a good spring break!
Hi, Danielle! Pizza and ice cream are awesome 😀 I love goat cheese (and spinach) so those pizzas sound right up my alley! Great idea!
