Hey hey. Happy Friday! It’s especially happy because I’m writing this post-finals and at home. Having birthday week (<– giveaway post!) during finals week made it a weird one, but it was ultimately a pretty great week – and I have an awesome weekend planned. I’m pretty freaking excited and I can’t wait to share it with you Monday. But before we get to the weekend, let’s talk about some of our favorite parts of this week.
- All the birthday love
Duh. I spent a significant portion of my birthday studying stats, but I also spent a lot of time reading your comments, texting friends, and chatting on the with family. Thank you, thank you, thank you for making me feel so loved.
And when I got home last night, I found my high school friends’ gifts awaiting me.
{Socks, a scarf, makeup, my favorite princess, peanut butter, almond butter, dark chocolate, gum, Reese’s, jewelry, tea, hot cocoa, and office/school supplies. They know me.}
- A birthday egg sandwich
For about three seconds, I thought that this was the lamest birthday dinner ever and tried to find some fancy, creative alternative. However, I purposely didn’t buy a lot of food this week so I’d be sure to eat up what I had. Eggs, cheese, and bread fit the bill. Aaaand this sandwich was perfection. Sometimes Often, simple really is best.
- Ohio necklace
My mom sent me this necklace from Katy Ryan Designs as a little birthday gift to get me through my last few days at school. I get teased for this a lot at school, where everyone wants to end up in New York, California, or Chicago, but I seriously love Ohio.
- Fluffy clouds
My last few flights have been at night, so it’s been dark and kind of boring. My flight yesterday was so pretty, though. Look at all the fluffy clouds! I really enjoyed just looking out the window for a while and, guys, the world is so stunningly gorgeous. I read this recently about how awe can help your mental health… and I totally buy it.
- Pizza
Between a flight delay and a long wait to get my suitcase at the baggage claim, my dad and I got home about an hour and a half later than we expected. Since we didn’t know what my arrival time would be, we decided to order pizza instead of trying to properly time a home-cooked meal. And I just really love sitting on the couch with my parents and eating pizza. It’s good to be home!
Have a wonderful weekend!
What’s your favorite state?
What are you loving this week?
Mom says
Yayayayayay! You are home! And my favorite state is whatever state you are living life. ❤️Love you most!

You’re too sweet ?
^^^^ I love your mom’s comment 😉
Ahhh I love flying and I think one of the best things is the fluffy clouds and staring out the window! Hahahaha!
O and…pizza!!! YUM!
She’s great 😀 And pizza is always yummy!
What a beautiful flight! I think my favorite state that I have visited is Washington DC. I’ve been twice and loved it both times. I need to explore more to have a better opinion. Have a great break Ellen 🙂
DC is a fun area for sure! I’d love to go back sometime. Thanks, Ellie!
That pizza look heavenly!! It’s hard for me to pick my favorite state, so I have two. Tennessee and Wisconsin. They have such beautiful scenery <3
Blessings,

I don’t think I’ve ever been to Wisconsin, but I love Tennessee, too!
Wherever my family is is my favorite state to be. But I must admit that, despite having spent all my growing up years in Washington, there is a huge part of my heart that belongs to the beauty of California, where I was born and lived for two years. I think I would still love it even if all my mom’s side of the family didn’t live there as well, although see above about my state preference priorities. ?
I echo your sentiments about family, but the scenery in California is pretty incredible 🙂 I sooo want to go to Washington sometime because it also looks stunning.
I’d be advocating for you to come to Washington, because it’d be awesome to meet you! ?
IF it does happen, we’ll have to connect!
That clouds… I am in love! I am fly only once and it was dark outside (
I do like landing when it’s dark, because you can see all the city lights.
Clouds are so peaceful but I even find flying itself really relaxing since there is often no internet so it is much easier to do something mindful like reading, puzzles or even just napping!
Hope you have a lovely break.
xx
I agree. I love reading and napping on planes 🙂
I’m literally drooling over your pizza! haha, it looks SO good! And oh my gosh! HAPPY belated birthday!! Looks like such a blast! <3 Hope that you're having a great weekend! And that plane pix is beautiful!! The clouds such do look fluffy!!
