Happy Friday, everybody! It’s been an unexpectedly busy week on my end, but this weekend looks fairly laid back. It’s almost ninth week – only a week and a half more of classes before finals. Craziness. Also, that means I really need to figure out what I want my schedule to look like next quarter… decisions, decisions. Oh, well. Busy though it’s been, this week has been nice. Let’s look at some of the things that made it a little nicer!
- Trader Joe’s Mini Mint Ice Cream Mouthfuls
Wow, that name is quite a mouthful. But these are awesome! They’re like Oreos. And they’re filled with ice cream. Two of my favorite things. Get these!
- This workout from Julie
I love this workout because it’s quick and fun and hard. I’m too busy hopping from exercise to exercise to get bored, and it’s over before I know it.
- Studying with friends
I’ve always been firmly in the Rory Gilmore camp with regard to studying, but I’m slowly coming around to studying more with friends. Even if we’re all just sprawled out in the hallway working on our own stuff, it’s so much more fun to study with people than it is to hole yourself up in your room all the time. There is a time and a place for that, but I’ve realized it doesn’t have to be all the time.
- Random throwback music
While doing homework last night, one of my friends had such, uh, great music from our childhood playing. Everything from High School Musical to Avril Lavigne. I loved it so much.
- Diet Coke
I fully admit that this could be a “favorite” any week, but I’ve had a lot of headaches this week. Couple this with the total inability to sleep well or nap, and Diet Coke has helped me get through most of the days this week. Healthy? No. Helpful (and tasty)? Oh, yeah.
Have a great weekend, everybody!
What are your favorite workouts?
Are you as caffeine-dependent as I am? For your sake, I hope not!
What are you loving this week?

Caffeine in the form of Diet Coke is a must…though I am making a concious effort to drink more water. My favorite thing this week? Bounty paper towels infused with Dawn dish soap. They are perfect for cleaning counters and the stove.

I saw those at Target! So cool!
We do a strength training routine where we do one workout for two weeks, then switch it up, with four different workouts we cycle through. This upcoming one is my favorite:
Twenty minutes, with heavier weights, resting when you can’t do anymore and then starting again when you can (usually about 10-30 seconds of rest time):
8 reps squat/row
8 reps floor crunch/chest fly
8 reps static squat/curl/tricep extension
8 reps lunge/side raise
Then, for 5 minutes, as non-stop as you can, with lighter weights, back-and-forth between curls and tricep dips.
I hate working out, but I like the way the plan we follow (from the book “The Metabolic Effect Diet”, by Jade and Keoni Teta) works for our lifestyle, and this particular workout isn’t horrible.
Caffeine usually keeps me up at nights, so I use it to that purpose, only occasionally indulging in coffee in the form of some sort of coffee/chocolate combo (of course!) because I love the flavors so much together!!
I’m mostly in a rut this week, loving all the things I love most extra-much (I know that’s not even a phrase… :P). Carrots…any way but raw, but mostly steamed and puréed into a slightly sweet sauce or roasted! The warm-sort-of-spring weather we’re getting here in the PNW…I know, I’m pretty sure the rest of the US is mad at us for hoarding all the nice weather. 😉 And like you mentioned, rediscovering forgotten songs especially if it’s newly applicable to your current life situation. 🙂
“This particular workout isn’t horrible” 😀 Hahaha what a ringing endorsement 😉
Yeah, you guys get the good weather. Jealous. But in the spring, I’ll be (a little) less jealous. Chicago in the spring can be really nice. I’ve never been to the PNW, so I’ll be a bit envious of the prettyness anyway 🙂
I’ve actually kind of just discovered steamed carrots, and I love the way it brings out their sweetness! I typically just eat baby carrots dipped in peanut butter, but I’ve really been liking steaming them lately!
Ha! That last sentence didn’t publish right…trying this edit…
