Happy Friday! For me, it feels a lot like Saturday, since we don’t have classes today – gotta love a long weekend! I have a pretty good balance of lots of work and friend time on the agenda for the weekend, though today is definitely more of a work day. Anyway, let’s get into talking about some of the things that made the week fabulous.
- Pistachios
I think that, on their own, pistachios are my favorite nut. I love that they’re a little sweet and a little salty. And I might be really strange (okay, I probably am, but maybe not because of this), but I think cracking them is fun.
- Writing letters
I sent some friends I haven’t seen for a while some cards this week, and I had the best time ever just sitting down and writing to them. Note to self: do that more often.
- Karaoke night
We had an inter-house karaoke night/competition last night, where each house in our dorm entered a solo act and a group act. I, uh, learned the dance yesterday (I wouldn’t say that I learned it very well…) and performed ABBA’s Dancing Queen. Making a fool of yourself is a good thing to do every once in a while, and it was fun to see the other acts.
- Candy Crush
I know. First, isn’t it a waste of time? Second, didn’t it already have its moment? Yes and yes. Still, it makes for a nice little break when you’re working. It really does.
- Hershey’s Chocolate Truffle Kisses
I don’t have words to describe how tasty these are. I really like regular dark chocolate kisses, but these are SO MUCH better. Melty and fantastic.
I hope you have a great day and a lovely Valentine’s Day weekend! Eat some chocolate and tell the people you love how much you love them!
What’s your favorite nut?
How do you feel about letter-writing? Karaoke?
What have you been loving this week?

I love you! Happy early Valentine’s Day!
YOU are my favorite “nut”! Other than that, I’m a mixed nut kinda girl.
I think my parents scarred me early on with letter-writing…(no offense, Mom and Dad). Still find it to be a chore and find typing sooo much easier. Besides, then I don’t have to look up addresses, find envelopes and stamps, etc. Sounds like letter-writing wouldn’t be such a daunting task if I were more organized and knew where everything was, huh?
I love Frozen Karaoke with the kids in the privacy of my own living room…the rest is way out of my comfort zone. I also find it hard to believe that, in this i-phone era, there is no video of you, my dancing queen?!?
This week, I’m loving that Starburst Jelly Beans are available for Valentine’s Day…and they are in mini-boxes so I don’t have to use self-control with a giant bag of them. I’m loving that I can laugh at my most recent ER adventure. I love that Camryn chose to wear a pink heart shirt, pink pants, pink skirt and pink heart hair accessory to school today and that I managed to get Kayla to wear a heart shirt with JEANS (you’ve gotta know Kayla)!
Gotta run! Some men just cut a hole in my living room floor to drop drywall through. Now I have to go get Mason from school and keep him from falling through the hole…no more ER!

Frozen karaoke sounds much more in my comfort zone, too! And, hm, I don’t know… there might be pictures but I think the judges did a good job of blocking any video (I hope)! But don’t worry, I can teach you the steps next time I see ya 😉
Starburst Jelly Beans are the best Jelly Beans!
Please tell me there are pictures! First, because all-pink Camryn sound adorable and second, because Kayla? Jeans? WHAT?
Also… pictures of your destroyed home? Because that sounds frightening. And, yes, no more ER for Mason (except I hear they have yummy popsicles 😉 ).
Pistachios are SO good! They need to be unsalted though!
But my favorite nut will always and forever be raw unsalted cashews! (Cold out of the fridge!)
Cashews are pretty wonderful, for sure! I’ve never had them cold, though. Do you eat most nuts cold, or is it cashew-specific?
I keep all nuts (that aren’t roasted) in the fridge! But cashews just taste like candy when they’re cold ! (weird, I know…nut so good!)
That’s so interesting! I have to try that out (I totally believe the candy thing – 100%. Nuts are just as addictive!).
Pistachios are pretty darn Amazing! I need to sit down and write some letters, too. Maybe I’ll do that this weekend… thanks for the idea 🙂 I haven’t had the truffle kisses, but I loved the pumpkin ones during fall and the candy cane ones at Christmas! Happy Long Weekend!
I think my favorite nut is pistachios as well. I definitely love the ice cream!! I also really like seasoned almonds. Walnuts are a great vegan alternative to beef. I made raw tacos with walnuts once and it was amazing…expensive…but amazing.
I love pistachio ice cream! Those tacos sound really interesting… but I can imagine the expense :/ Walnuts aren’t cheap!
I love pistachios. Their sweet+salt taste is so distinctive. But I love almonds even more. I’m not a candy crush pro but level 43 is so fun that I’ve scored like 500000 points in it.
I would certainly agree that almonds are awesome 🙂 Nicely done on level 43!
Pistachios were among some of the only nuts I can have that I don’t react to, and I agree: one of the best out-of-hand nuts!! But, if nut butter counts, peanut butter definitely is my fav, over any whole nut! 😛
I’ve never done any official karaoke; I’m sure I’d be awful. Kudos to you for braving it in front of everyone! I used to write letters all the time to my pen pals, but gradually, one by one, they all stopped writing. I have done some email pen pals, too, and I think there’s pros and cons to both. I can write way faster and get back to people sooner on the computer, but there is just something so special and personal in writing/getting a handwritten letter.
Loving this week…two different pairs of much-needed new shoes!! I finally found what I wanted in practical, everyday and casual, but still cute! And unexpected one-on-one girls shopping time with my mom…the best. 🙂 And though I will always love them, especially appreciating the inspiring and comforting powers of chocolate (Trader Joes = The Bomb Dot Com!) and music (I <3 The Afters :)) this week.
I think there’s more karaoke on tap for tonight This time, not in group form, so that’s a little more outside my comfort zone 😛
And I definitely agree that there are upsides to email and handwritten letters… you just have to choose and figure that either way, you’re connecting with people.
Yay for finding exactly what you were looking for, shopping with mom (seriously the best shopping), and the endless comforts of music and chocolate. I’ve needed those last two a lot the last couple days!
