TGIF! Is it just me, or did this week feel seriously long? I’m not usually the person who counts down to the weekend, but this week… I’ve been that person. I totally believe you should love and look forward to more than 2/7 of your life (as in, not just Saturday and Sunday), but I also submit that some days are just better than others. And days when you get to see your family are included 🙂 All that is a long way of saying that I get to spend some time with my parents this weekend, and I’ve been looking forward to that all week. Still, there were some good things about the week. What better way to start the weekend than by reflecting on some of those? Let’s do it!

While I do get to see my parents this weekend, I won’t get to see my puppy. Yesterday, my mom sent me these videos of Pippa. She gets a little wild after she gets a bath, and it’s super adorable.
Sometimes, honestly, I feel “icky” or “wrong” for eating as much as I do, knowing that I’m as small as I am. In a world where people are always talking about eating less and getting smaller, sometimes it doesn’t feel like you’re doing the right thing when you listen to either your stomach or the voice in your head that tells you that you could use some food. Reading pretty much anything Robyn writes makes me feel better. She is awesome and realistic, and provides much-needed perspective when I feel like my intake is overboard. I think a lot of people would do well to think more like she does.
I’m not a milk chocolate person. I’m a super-dark chocolate person. But this tastes like the most intensely delicious Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup you’ve ever had. Soooooo good.
- Salted almonds, dates, and super dark chocolate
I’ve had this snack probably every day this week. Such a great combination. Flavors and textures and yum.
- Things to look forward to
Haha. I said I was going to talk about awesome stuff from the week and this is sort of cheating. However, I think any time you have things to look forward to, that’s a positive thing. Many weeks, my weekends are largely full of work. They’re not bad, but they don’t hold anything super different from the weekdays. This week, I’ve been looking forward to seeing my parents and getting a good neck massage and enjoying some relaxation and exploring and restaurant week with them.
And that’s all for me for today. Have a fabulous Friday!
Do you have any weekend plans?
What are you loving this week?

Aww I’m glad she made you smile 🙂 Thanks, Cora! Have a lovely weekend!
I’m definitely the opposite – give me alllll the milk chocolate and leave the dark for my husband. No thanks. But that Reese’s esque bar sounds like heaven!
LOL I won’t turn down any chocolate. And yes! If you ever see it, totally pick it up. Loved. It.
You need to try the Theo’s Dark Chocolate, Coconut, and Quinoa bar, I think you will love it!
I’ve never had Theo’s, but that sounds heavenly!!!
Aw! She is so cute!!! I want a dog…even though I’m pretty freaked about animals, I would LOVE a pug!
Ahhhh pugs are adorable ?
I love Robyn’s blog and find her very entertaining and intelligent. I dislike it when people comment to thinner women that they must never have body image problems or feel uncomfortable in their skin because they have a good body. It’s simply not true.
I look forward to weekends too even though my weekdays and weekends are the same. There’s just a different vibe
Body image problems can definitely affect anyone. Have a wonderful weekend, Ellie!
Oh my gosh, Pippa’s too hilarious!! She reminds me so much of my dog, who is also crazy post-bath. Also, some weeks just are worse than others, and it’s okay to acknowledge that, put them behind you and get on to a better day/week moving forward…so no judgment there! I sometimes have super-hard weeks, too, and it’s extra great if the following week and/or weekend is just lovely. Have a wonderful time with your mom and dad!
Thanks for that perspective, Hannah! Have a fabulous weekend!
I love Robyn too. She helped me LOT with my mindset around food a couple years ago – and still serves as a great reminder. Dates + chocolate + almonds = amazing. I just got these dates rolled in almonds and coconut, so I’m excited to try those (prob tonight).
Robyn is great 🙂 Ooooh those sound amazing! I love coconut!
I definitely need to try your snack of dates, salted almonds and dark chocolates. It can satisfy my sweet tooth and salt carvings in one without totally blowing my food intake for the day! Happy Friday!
Healthy and delicious! Let me know if you give it a try!
Just wanted to pop in and say I’m sorry I’ve not been commenting recently, Ellen! I hope all is well and this weekend is just what you needed after the long eek you had. 🙂
Aw thanks, Julia! It was a lovely weekend. I hope all is well with you and that you had a good weekend, too! 🙂
