Happy Friday! How was your first full week of 2016? I’ll be totally honest and say mine was a little rough. Getting back into the swing of school and work and all that jazz… well, it’s not the most fun initially. I’m sure it’ll all get better and I’ll get back into a routine, but it’s an adjustment. The good news? It’s practically the weekend! I have a class this morning, an adviser meeting afterward, and plans to do homework with a friend after that.
Then… I think my weekend is going to be about finding a routine, relaxing with friends, cooking, and getting ahead on work. It might sound boring, but I think it’ll help preserve my sanity, so it’s 100% worth it. So let’s head into this relaxing-ish weekend on a good note and look back at some of the things that made this simply okay week a little more lovely!
- Family photobook
My mom ordered this wallet-sized expandable photo book for me for Christmas, filled with pictures of our family photo shoot from Thanksgiving. It’s a nice little piece of home away from home, includes my dog, and is a conveniently small size. Love it.
This place will honestly get its own post sometime because I love it so much. The people who work at the location near campus are the sweetest, the hotel is cozy, and it has delicious food. Also, lots of candy.
It’s where my parents always stay when they visit, and where we spent Saturday night. And I sometimes study there. Like I said, it’s another post.
- Classical for Studying Radio on Pandora
When I want to be productive and read Durkheim, but also be around people, I need something to drown out the inevitable chatter around me. This does the trick. It’s not too distracting and it can even be really soothing if I’m feeling antsy. Bonus: everything I’ve listened to just sounds beautiful.
- New shoes
I got these on a fabulous sale at Macy’s before I came back to school and I am obsessed! The heel isn’t too high, and they’re super comfortable. They’re perfect with skinny jeans, but they’re also great for bootcut pants that are a little longer. Love.
- Amazon Prime
This is a huge college-student “duh“. However, not only does it bring me my textbooks quickly, it also supplies me with more important things. Like nut butter.
When I came back to school, there was hardly any in my dorm room. And within a couple days, I magically had cashew butter, almond butter, hazelnut butter, and three types of peanut butter. So, all is right with the world.
And on that happy note, that’s all for me this week. Have a wonderful weekend!
What’s your favorite thing to listen to right now?
What are you loving this week?

Prime is so convenient! But yeah… it might be a little too easy 😉
Right now I’m listening to some guy on YouTube called Erik the Electric make some granola lol completely random but I listened to an interview with him on my favorite podcast so I checked out his channel. I never got into YouTube before when I had TV…not I use it like morning shows while I eat breakfast. I love your boots! I just got two pairs from Target to keep my tootsies both stylish and warm this winter.
Target is the best!!
my favorite music lately has been Hozier and Coldplay! this week I have been loving avocado-egg toast! 🙂
That toast sounds amaaaaazing. Yum!

I LOVE Amazon prime too! 🙂 And that peanut butter toast looks SOO good. 🙂
Totally my favorite! Thanks, Emily 🙂
Love the little albums!!
Listening…podcasts 😛 Now that Christmas music is over, It’s just easier to drown that sadness out with podcasts! Haha!
Podcasts are good at that 🙂
I love my Amazon Prime membership! So worth it. Also, loving the ankle booties. Thanks so much for linking up your favorites. Have a great weekend!
Thanks for hosting! You, too 🙂
Love the boots!! I just got my first pair of ankle boots (I’m late to the trend) for Christmas and I LOVE them.
Thanks! Haha I’m late to the trend, too. I still love them, though!
I love the boots! My parents have Amazon Prime and I am allowed to make use of their account if I need something in a hurry.
I’m sort-of missing the Christmas music to be honest so I am very open to suggestions of what to fill that void with…
Hope you settle back in soon 🙂
xx
Thanks, Charlie! I so feel that void, too. I do love audiobooks when I don’t need to be focusing on anything else 🙂
I go back to school tomorrow and I know I’ll be using my Amazon Prime account for books and other fun stuff soon! Good idea ordering nut butters!
Love the boots!! I sooo hope I can get a pair of ankle boots before it goes out of style…though I am usually at least one trend behind the general populace, so I guess it doesn’t really matter. ?
For some reason, I usually like listening to my most recent music purchases best…occasionally mixing in old faves too, of course. So right now, I’m listening to a lot of Mandisa, songs from recent movies we’ve watched, and Neil Diamond…because I guess my grandma got me hooked on retro music. ? Non-music-wise, I’ve been listening to podcasts like it’s my job (?) as well as “This Present Darkness” by Frank Peretti. This week, I’m loving the less rain, more sun and a fading in the bone-chilling cold. ☀️??
Haha I’m not generally on-trend, either. 🙂
I always overplay the songs I just downloaded or am most obsessed with. I try to mix in other stuff for some variety, but I’m totally the person who listens to the same song on repeat for two weeks. ?
Sorry you had a rough week. I hope this weekend give you the respite you need. 🙂 Those shoes are ADORABLE! I have some similar, but I love the buckle on yours.
It was a pretty nice weekend 🙂 Thanks so much, Julia!
Cute shoes!!
Sometimes those “organize yourself” weekends are so important. I always feel like I shouldn’t be using the weekend to sort myself out, but I am always grateful that I bothered once the week has started. Good luck – I hope next week is a little easier for you!
I totally agree, but it feel so good to start Monday feeling good about life! Thanks, Sam!
I’m sorry it’s be hard adjusting back to school…but hey, at least it ended well! That cashew butter looks so yummy! I seriously need to get some! …also, those booties are just the cutest! I got a pair like them and I love them!! So fun!
That’s okay – it’s expected at this point 🙂 YES, get cashew butter. Deeelicious. Booties are super fun and definitely a “trend” that I think looks pretty classy.
