Hey there! I just thought I’d pop in with a very-quick-because-I-have-a-little-more-studying-to-do recap of the weekend. The studying is for my last (!) midterm, which is econ. I’m feeling pretty good about it, but a little extra review never hurt anyone.
So, this past weekend was family weekend, and my grandparents came up on Friday, so I could show them around campus and spend some quality time with them. For lunch, we went to the Med for a delicious, standard UChicago-student experience. And for dinner, we went to Chipotle. Because… it’s Chipotle and I love it. Also, because it was family weekend, so a lot of restaurants around here were busy. In between, I showed them my dorm and we browsed the bookstore before parting ways for a while so I could start on a paper.
On Saturday, they attended a model econ class and then we met up for a little more bookstore browsing and a coffee break before they headed home. It was great to see them!
After they left, I headed to the Homecoming party.
The weather this weekend was absolutely gorgeous, so just taking in the festivities was really kind of perfect. There was a ton of free food (walking tacos and caramel apples!), and there was an inter-house game of tug-of-war. We lost in the second round. Oh well.
{Trying}
I am little, so I’m no good for helping with tug-of-war. Also, I was eating a caramel apple, so I just took pictures. It was fun, anyhow. 🙂

After this, I walked around with a couple of friends, ate some free food, and headed off to finish my paper around game time. (We played WashU. We won.)
I spent most of my super-exciting Saturday working on my paper and then Sunday I got to relax and grocery shop (I found more Pumpkin Spice Chobani!) and cook. I made these super delicious meatballs and now they are in my minifridge. They provide excellent variety from boring, not overly tasty dining hall meat.
It was a pretty relaxing day, and after our house meeting in the evening, I crashed pretty early.
And that was my weekend. Fairly low-key, but I got to spend some time with some of my favorite people (friends + family) and I got to cook. AND I finished my paper. I’d say it was a good one.
Have a lovely Tuesday! Talk to you later.
How was your weekend?

Our weekend was good, too! Dad suggested pizza for dinner on Friday. Yes, dad suggested going out/ordering pizza. The weather was spectacular! Gentle breezes, falling leaves = awesomeness. On Sunday, we enjoyed spending time with some of our favorite people…dad with your grandparents and I with your cousins. The kids wanted to see you, so we made a very quick FaceTime call to you. The kids and I spent some time outside playing in some of the largest leaves I have ever seen. They were wonderful and it was great spending time with them. They make my heart smile!
Awesome weather, relaxing days, and some favorite people…I think our weekend was wonderful, too.

Yay! I’m glad it was a good one 🙂
Oh, yum! The food from both those restaurants had my mouth watering and, in the one case, wishing I lived near Chicago! Also, kind of a weird coincidence, my sibs and I were just reading a series together that occurs in Hyde Park, so it was kind of creepy to run into it elsewhere. 🙂
I had an awesome weekend, one of the best birthday celebrations *ever*!! The pizza was simply to-die-for, the froyo delectable, and you just can’t beat a relaxing movie night with the fam!
Chicago is definitely pretty great 😉 Oh, that’s interesting. What series?
Ahhh I’m so glad your birthday was great. Sounds like the perfect celebration!
It’s a kids’ series by Blue Balliett called I think the Chasing Vermeer series (that’s the first book)…I like how, as you are learning in the story about art or a certain artist, it makes you want to go and look it up to learn more. 😉
