Yesterday in Edinburgh I finally got a decent chunk of time to explore alone. After going on a quick tour of Edinburgh Castle, I wandered off to grab lunch on my own, but I ran into a couple from my tour who told me I should sit down with them.
I obliged, chatted a while, and then headed off to the other end of the Royal Mile to climb Calton Hill for some pretty views, a lot of selfie-taking practice in intense wind, and some movement after a lot of sitting on a bus over the last few days. I spent too much time on the hill just enjoying the views and didn’t have time to tour Holyrood Palace, where the queen stays when she’s in Scotland. So, I stood outside and took pictures, before making my way back toward the castle for to journey to Glasgow.
I also snapped some pictures of an adorable dog statue that commemorates a dog that supposedly sat on its owner’s grave for 14 years. Cutest statue ever. I loved Edinburgh. Then, it was off to Glasgow for a long and mediocre dinner and a long drive back to the hotel. Tomorrow I’m off to Belfast and Dublin, which involves a lot of bus and ferry time. Wish me luck.
Your turn:
Do you like to travel and explore on your own or with company?
Anything I have to do in Dublin?

Too many great pics to choose a favorite…the directional signs, looking down the length of the cannon, door, many of Holyrod Place. The dog statue did not make your post – I know you had some issues with that one loading the first time.
I am a little jealous. ? Yet I am so happy that you chose this adventure. Love you bunches!

I learned my photo skills from the best!
I agree with mom. So many great pics. I like to travel and explore with you and mom. Looking forward to doing that in December.
I’m looking forward to that, too!
Love your sharing your adventure. Great photos. I imagine that catching all those great shots would be more difficult with companions.
I guess I prefer company. Just me.
I do tend to lag behind the group a little when I’m taking so many photos!
I love seeing the world through your eyes! Your going out on your own is allowing you to capture what others might miss–that is the problem with tours–they can direct you a bit too much.
Still experiencing the “too much direction” in the context of school… but I guess that’s what we pay them for 😛
