Hey there! It’s been a lovely and busy few days full of arts and crafts and meeting new people and I’m equal parts excited and exhausted. I’m thinking I’ll have a bit more time to write and relax (and bake?) the next few days, so that will be appreciated. Anyway, let’s catch up a little bit! I’ll break down some of the busyness – by the numbers.
3.5: Donuts I ate at 10:30 on Friday night after a day of orientation training and decorating. There were a dozen donuts, about 7 people, and apparently I’m not great at sharing. 😉 But hey, Dunkin’ Donuts has really good pumpkin spice, chocolate frosted, blueberry, and powdered sugar donuts… in case you were wondering.
14: Hours I spent painting and tracing and cutting and taping decorations on Saturday. Our theme is Dinosaurs in Soup. It’s fun and whimsical. Don’t judge.
17: Carts full of suitcases, storage bins, mini-fridges, school supplies, and TVs I unloaded on Sunday morning.
1: Number of families I totally misdirected on Sunday morning. To be fair, they couldn’t tell me who they actually were looking for, so I had to make a (wrong) guess.
16: Games of Bananagrams played with new students, RAs, and other orientation aides. I think I have played fewer games than that in the rest of my life. It was fun!
3: Equivalent number of brownies I ate in crumb form while cutting them for a snack break on Sunday night.
10: Number of cut brownies I ate during the snack break. Is that too many? Don’t answer that.
2: Minor problems with our apartment so far. The door lock’s battery died on move-in day, and it turns out that our shower needs to be turned to the cold side to get hot water. Turning it to the hot side just gives you a lot of really cold water.
4: Students at the registration meeting who very concernedly asked me questions about the economics major at UChicago. It’ll all be okay, guys. You can do it!
12: People who have stopped me while I’m wearing this lovely shirt to ask questions about where to go or what they’re doing. Apparently, it suggests I know things.
109: High fives I gave out during the traditional welcome procession. Okay, that number is a guess. It could’ve been more. I washed my hands as soon as we got back to the dorm because… germs.
196: (Virtual) tickets I won last night at Dave & Buster’s. I pooled them with a couple friends and told them to buy what they wanted. They chose mini light-up guns.
6: Days left in O-Week. It should be fun 🙂
What’s your favorite type of donut?

Loved reading this post! So much fun and I might just have to steal the theme for a future post of mine :). So glad to hear that you’re enjoying your time back! I LOVE all those cute dinos and am super jealous of all of your sweet treats. Hope you have some time to relax soon, girlie! You’ve been busy!

Thanks so much, Christine! It’s good to be back 🙂
This was a very fun read. My favorite doughnut is Krispy Kreme original glazed hot. OMG they melt in your mouth like buttah. Have a great week

Ahhh that sounds amazing. Warm melty donuts sound like the epitome of perfection.
Sounds like such a fun time! And I really love the dinosaurs in soup theme!
It’s been great 🙂
Wow, how on earth did you keep track of all those numbers?! Cool post idea! My favorite donut is probably glazed, but I haven’t had very many flavors, so I don’t know. I used to love the powdered donut holes…I love donut holes, but I haven’t had them since I was like 10? Now I want some kind of donut! 😀
Sometimes I take notes on life haha. Silly, but whatever works 🙂 I love donut holes! If it’s mini, you can eat a million 😉 Hope you get yourself a donut soon!
Lol, you and me both on the germs thing! Your apartment problems sound like our house…the plastic indicator on all our showers are broken, so they spin around and you can’t know unless by experience where to turn it for hot/cold water. 😛
I might be proclaimed a traitor or something, but I hate donuts (though when I was little, I used to love donut holes, but I think that was more about the powdered sugar than the donuts 😛 ). They just taste sweet + greasy to me, and I’d 10x rather have a cookie or ice cream. But I love the flavor pumpkin spice…and now that it’s fall, I’m like, bring on the pumpkin!
Haha I’ll take ice cream over a donut any day… but I’ll also just take both 😉 Feel free to send yours my way. Also, I’m super excited because I just saw that pumpkin spice Oreos are coming back soon. I had a perfectly alright day, but that MADE the day. Tiny bit pathetic, but oh well!
Hehe, those Dinosaurs are so cute 😉
Thanks! One of my very-talented friends did a lot of excellent designing 🙂
I love this post idea It sounds like it was a hectic last few days for you…hope you get some good relaxation time before school picks back up!
Thanks, Liv! I’m planning on it… hopefully that works out 😉
