The beginnings of my week are my busiest times, and I just finished writing a paper and am still studying for one of my last midterms, so I don’t have much to update you on other than “Hi, I’m still going to classes and eating a lot of candy and surviving. So, let’s transition into a survey I found on Julie’s and Ashley’s blogs. It’ll be fun, and you can tell me about you and I can tell you about me and we’ll get to know each other! Ready… go!
- Household chore I actually enjoy…
{Source}
A lot of them! Cooking, doing dishes, doing laundry, tidying up. What can I say? Cleaning gives me a sense of accomplishment. The only thing I really hate is weeding the yard.
- Biggest house disaster…
I currently live in a dorm room, so there’s not much room for a mess (for someone who hates living in messy quarters). However, the first thing that happened when I moved in was that my closet door came off its track, so sometimes the area between my bed and my permanently-open closet door isn’t the cleanest – but no one can see it! 😉
- Before company arrives, I hide…
Any papers that may be sprawled all over my bed/desk. They aren’t usually there long, but they definitely make everything look messier.
- Most recent music download…
Taylor Swift’s 1989. Yep.
- The last thing I bought online…
Diet Coke. It’s cheaper and more convenient than lugging it from the grocery store to my dorm room… and there was a SNAFU with the dining hall and they have temporarily (until February 24th?) switched to Pepsi products. This won’t do.
- Favorite family ritual…
Ahhh. I don’t even know. I love hanging out with my family, period. I love car rides and dinners and vacations and lazy nights at home with them. They’re awesome.
- I sleep in…
A bed…? Oh, you mean the clothes? Boxer shorts and some sort of a college T-shirt.
- I have a style crush on…
Taylor Swift.
- I’m currently reading…
Also, Life is a Dream by Pedro Calderon de la Barca and a lot of my econ textbook.
- How did I ever live without…

My dog? Copying Julie there, but I never would’ve thought I’d love her as much as I do.
Tell me some of your answers to the questions! Have a great day!

Household chore I actually enjoy…almost all of them. While I am a bit slow to get started cleaning, I love having a clean house. In order to get the most enjoyment while cleaning, music must be playing loudly and singing is definitely required. 😉
I am not sure about the biggest house disaster. Uncle Kyle spilling orange drink on the steps while moving into our new house. Many times (yes, I should have learned) that flour explodes everywhere because I did not lower the mixer speed. Ahhh…spilling paint in our bedroom closet at the Amberwick house…that might be the biggest disaster…I had forgotten about that. Today, I would say that Pippa is our biggest house disaster. Our house used to stay clean for a longer period of time…now the floor can be a mess within hours of cleaning due to her tracking in snow, dirt, leaves, etc. (I still think she is awesome!)
Before company arrives, I clean. If the house is pretty much in order, I make sure all the piles are put away…like in the den. 🙂
Most recent music download…Frozen soundtrack. The majority of the music I listen to comes from Pandora.
My last online purchase was my Columbia Bugaboo boots. LOVE them!!!
Cotton shirt and flannel pants are a necessity to sleep in during sub-zero temperatures.
Style crush? Anyone and everyone. I am in awe of what some friends wear and wish I had the courage to attempt to pull off some of the styles that I see. They look amazing on everyone else…me? I guess we are our own worst critics. 😉
I am currently reading (aka listening) “Only the Innocent” by Rachel Abbott. Audible is a must for me, and I am enjoying their recommendations lately.
How did I ever live without….my boots? Somehow I managed all last winter in my awesome Brooks trail shoes, but this winter I felt the need for boots. I also wonder how we lived without a dog for so long. It is amazing how much more love, joy, and humor she has brought into our lives.
Love the questions today! Love you!

Oh! The flour thing! So frustrating.
And I’ve been feeling the same way about good boots. They’re warm and keep you protected, and they’re unbelievably awesome.
Love you 🙂

What fun! Let’s see…
Is cooking even considered a chore? If it is, I love cooking and getting creative new ways of looking at food; it’s kind of therapeutic for me and keeps me sane. But also, I discovered recently, somewhat to my own astonishment, that I like doing dishes. I can’t separate whether it’s the actual doing of the dishes, really *seeing* the fruits of my labor or getting the kitchen cleaned (I am a clean-kitchen-freak!!), but there you go. Also I kind of like vacuuming. 🙂
Ugh, house disasters. Despite our house being fairly new, it seems like we are always discovering an emergency broken something (usually having to do with plumbing…). Biggest disaster ever was probably when a can of black spray paint exploded all over my mom, my sister and me once as we were cleaning up the garage.
When company comes, we try to hide as much of what you might think of as the “everyday living” stuff…ugly seat cushions, menus or recipe cards, clutter that has accumulated on flat surfaces. Oh, and my dog. 😛 Lots of people stress her out, so I usually put her to bed early upstairs when we have a party.
My most recent music download…The Afters. Their most recent album, “Life is Beautiful” is my favorite. 🙂
The last thing I ordered online I think was a birthday present for my sibs…they haven’t had their birthdays yet, so I’d better not tell, but I was pretty excited because I think they will love it. 🙂
I’m with you, Ellen…I love doing ANYTHING with my family, and chilling with them is just the best ever. I don’t know we have that many rituals/traditions in our family, but throughout my growing up, we have often read aloud a book as a family before bed, and that is super-fun.
Knit gowns are my favorite sleepwear. 🙂
I’m not really sure I have a style crush on any particular person…I just wish I could pull together the style I like so my outfits don’t just look like a hodge-podge! 😛 I frequently admire/am jealous of people who look “pulled-together”, even if what they are wearing is not particularly my style.
I am currently reading “Perfectly Unique” by Annie Downs, as well as listening to a Great Courses lecture series…I am definitely starting to feel the need to add some fiction reading in as relaxing/treaty reading. 🙂
How could I ever live without my family?! I have literally said this to myself probably close to a hundred times in the last year. They are always there for me, accept me just the way I am and love me for who I am…I can’t imagine life without them!!
