Hey there! Happy Monday! Did you have a good weekend? I… think I did. Basically, I took most of Saturday afternoon and evening off of work and otherwise spent my time on an econ problem set. Like, 16 hours of a problem set. Let’s forget about that, though, and talk about some of the fun stuff.
Friday night, after catching up with some high school friends and an afternoon of econ, I took a “break” to read The Wealth of Nations. After that, I sprawled out on the floor and ate chocolate and talked about pretty much everything with a fourth-year friend who was (and is) frantically working on job applications.
Saturday morning, I realized how much time there actually is before noon. See, I usually would just laze around until the gym opens (at 8 am) and work out, come back and shower, eat a late breakfast, and the morning would practically be over. Instead, I opted for a quick HIIT workout in the dorm when I woke up (around 5:30 am), and used all that extra time to clean the kitchen, take out the trash, go grocery shopping, and do a week’s worth of Spanish homework. Weekend mornings might be my new favorite thing.
Then, apple picking!
{This + 283789 apples = lunch}
It was such a fun afternoon, and the weather was so much better than last year. It was a little chilly, but not raining or anything crazy. Also, there’s nothing bad about an afternoon that yields apples, pumpkin butter, and pumpkin donuts. Nothing.
Saturday evening, I coordinated the ordering of takeout for 10 people, played games, and spent a lot of time talking to a prospective student visiting one of the first years… all before convincing myself to spend a couple hours on my econ problem set.
The potential productivity of weekend mornings astounded me once again on Sunday, when I did some dishes and writing and all my laundry before 11 am. But then I spent from 1 to 6 working on the same homework problem with my study group, so… that didn’t feel wonderfully productive.
Honestly, I kind of relaxed for the rest of the evening and loved it.
I have grand plans to bake something with the 7 pounds of apples I acquired on Saturday, but who knows when I’ll find time to do that. I’ll keep ya posted. 😉 Have a wonderful Monday!
What’s the longest amount of time you’ve spent on a week’s assignment?
When are you most productive?

I am amazed you got up at 530 am on a Sat in college. Amazed! haha Sounds like fun 🙂

It wasn’t exactly intentional, but I’m trying to embrace the lack of sleep 🙂
When I have a project, I usually put it off, but then leave myself ample enough time to get it done and forget about! I hate the stress of having a looming deadline with unfinished work, so I always end up just doing it all as quick as possible!
Haha I try super hard not to procrastinate because I get wayyy too stressed out when I’m up against a deadline.
OMG I took this class at the Police Academy to be an instructor and we had to make a lesson plan, presentation etc. I swear I lost a portion of my mind doing that. Love apples, excited to see what you are going to whip up.

I’m hoping this will be a weekend of baking 🙂
Oh my word, 7 pounds of apples sounds like an awesome issue to deal with 🙂 I’d be making a big pan of apple crisp with some vanilla ice cream!
And I’m majorly impressed by your 5:30 am wakeup time, especially in college. Getting a week’s worth of Spanish homework done before noon sounds pretty darn great.
And this wasn’t exactly an assignment, but I spent most of my study/hw time this weekend studying for my midterm today and now it’s OVER. Best feeling in da world!
Apple crisp is probably on the agenda 😉
Yay for being done with your midterm!
I feel you with the problem set. For some of my maths ones I used to give up counting the hours once it passed 15 as it was just depressing!
I love apples and it sounds like you have a pretty awesome haul! Recipes like stewed apple purees and baked apple crisps are a good way to make them last a bit longer (or you could make a apple sorbet and freeze it!) xx
I adore apple crisp ❤️
I used to think I was a dyed-in-wool morning person, but now that my hormones are starting to get closer to normal, I’m not so sure. I think I’m most productive with things that require mental/physical energy in the morning, but I’m most emotionally articulate at night, which is when I prefer to write in my journal, draft thoughtful or emotional blog posts or type up an email or text on a difficult subject.
I don’t remember how long I’ve ever spent on one assignment, but it was probably math-related. And there were probably tears involved. 😉
Yum! Can’t wait to hear what you do with those apples!!
I think I time my activities similarly to you. I feel more emotional when I’m relaxed at night.
I’ve had plenty of assignments involving tears 😛 That’s no fun.
