Hey there! How was your weekend? Mine was great and relaxing, but I’m honestly (a little) glad it’s Monday. What? Yeah, I’m one of the crazy people who thrives on a schedule, so weekends throw me off a little. Also, I look at every Monday as a fresh start, which I think we can all use. Anyway, I thought I’d share with you some of the ways I make my Mondays – and my everydays – pretty great.
- Make a list
What do you want to do today? What do you need to do today? Write it down! If it’s on paper, you don’t have to worry about what you might be forgetting as you get busier and busier. Bonus: it’s SO satisfying to cross things off a list
- Get moving
I like to work out or go for a walk in the mornings to help me feel alive and awake and ready to tackle my day. (Today, I’m going to a kickboxing class with a friend). You already know that I feel better with movement, and I think that’s true of many people. It doesn’t have to be early – or much – but a little activity is almost always a good thing.
- Get outside
Hi. The outside world is pretty. Also, there is sunlight out there. When you’re feeling stressed or trapped, sometimes all you need is to see that there is a gorgeous world out there beyond your work and your problems. I conveniently have to walk to class, so I get outside automatically, but I’ve been known to take half-hour (or longer) breaks just to go enjoy the fresh air.
- Eat a delicious something (or many somethings)
It’s no secret that I love eating good food (and cooking it and baking it). I think it’s pretty hard to have a bad day when you’re eating tasty treats. You have to eat to live, and so you might as well eat good things! Even if it’s not dessert, just eat things you really enjoy, okay? (By the way, I made both of the above desserts on Saturday and would highly recommend them.)
- Spend time with the people you like
Laughing and talking (and possibly commiserating) with people whose company you enjoy makes any day a better one! I promise. Even as someone who really values alone time, I know that I feel a lot better when I have at least some positive human interaction in my days.
These are all parts of my day I love and look forward to, regardless of what else is happening. Without them, I feel a little less super-happy and a little less motivated to work and act like a person. Does that mean every day is amazingly awesome? No. But it does make every day a little bit – and often a lot – better, which is entirely worth it to me.
What do you do to make your days better?

Happy Monday! I’m actually writing my list now as I read blog posts this morning 🙂 I definitely need that organization to get me through the day!

Organization gets me through life 🙂
I always make a new fresh weekly “to-do” list Sunday night! Helps me set up a great week! (But I actually like Mondays anyway!)
I’m glad some other people like Mondays, too!
I have a planner to keep all my school work organized and I love to highlight things when I do them. I also always grocery shop on Sunday and meal prep on Mondays. It makes it easier to be healthy during a busy week.
I’m working on making meal prep more of a habit. It makes life sooo much easier!
I know, right?! Crossing stuff off a list is the best antidote to feeling overwhelmed. ? As always, your baked goods look scrumptious! ? I totally know what you mean about weekends…I spend all week looking forward to them, but then by the time Sunday comes around, a lot of times, I’m itching to get back into a groove.
Doing some of my favorite things makes my day better…reading, writing, hanging out with my favorite people…but also I love taking a break by watching a movie occasionally. If I’m doing a mindless task, I love listening to audiobooks, podcasts or music. It makes the job go faster and I get to enjoy doing something that otherwise might seem like a bore.
I love listening to all those! Which one I choose depends on what I’m doing, but absolutely!
Getting outside is a big one for me too. I notice I feel grumpy and off if I don’t spend at least a little time outside every day!
Same! I realized on Sunday that I went until almost dinner time without going outside – and I was totally feeling off. So, I went for a quick walk and enjoyed the beautiful evening!
I actually love Mondays. They are a relatively easy day for me class-wise, and I cannot help but enjoy the promise of new week. There’s something about the “clean slate” feeling that gets me riled up in a positive way. I’m a huge list maker! This is the first year I have truly used my planner, and it is extremely helpful.
The “clean slate” feeling is the best!
Happy Monday! Love this list. I feel like I try to do all of these, but it’s a nice little reminder. Some come easier to me (like list-making) than others (like seeing the outdoors!!!)
I’d say doing any of them is a step in the right direction! Do what works for you 🙂
