Last week was a long one for both Jack and I at work, but we managed to also get a good bit done around the house.
Jack finished the baseboards for the nursery and they look awesome. Like, it sucks that it’s such an undertaking to do even a small room’s worth of them because I now want them to look like that all over the house. One day, we’ll hire someone to tackle that.
But now we can start pulling the nursery together for real, so that’s exciting.
I’m planning to work on freezer meals and washing some baby stuff in the next few days. And trying to rest a little, too. Still, time is moving way too quickly and I could use a pause button.

I’m Pregnant! + The First Trimester
At 30 weeks pregnant, baby girl is supposedly the size of a cabbage.
Symptoms
My hunger has felt a little reduced this week. Probably because baby girl is taking up so much room in there? I do get hungry if I wake up in the middle of the night, though.
I’ve been able to ease back on the aloe water, senna, and magnesium. I still take them but in smaller doses less frequently.
My sciatica is back, but only really when I wake up. It takes a minute to adjust and then it disappears.
I have to pee a whole lot and I’m crazy thirsty.
I slept pretty terribly for most of the week. There were a few nights when I couldn’t fall asleep until pretty late, and even more when I woke up at 1am or 2am and was up for couple hours.
My belly button has totally popped out.
Baby girl is super active and she really likes to curl up in a ball on my right side.
I’m up 16-18 pounds and my belly is measuring right about on track. I’ll get you another bump pic next week.
Food
My diet is still pretty much my normal. We both were feeling little less hungry than usual last week, so the pot roast I made lasted us longer it typically does. It was a long, very blah week, so we ate out more than usual, too. We got Chipotle one night, went on a date one night, I had dinner at my parents’ one night when I brought the dogs over to play with theirs, and we ordered Italian food in one night.
And then I started this week by making this homemade Thai yellow curry paste and using it in Creamy Thai Sweet Potato Curry. I added chicken thighs and roasted broccoli because we like meat and we had broccoli left in the fridge. It was awesome, and I have a ton of curry paste left, so I’ll freeze that for easy future curries.
Aside from that, I’ve had a lot of apples, grapes, peanut butter, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, and dates. And I’ve still been picking at the Halloween candy Jack picked up to hand out to our zero trick-or-treaters.
Exercise
I’m still following the Expecting and Empowered pregnancy guide, so that covered three of my workouts, and I’ve been doing some pelvic floor and flexibility work daily.
I walked the boys a few days last week, and with plenty of housework to do, I’ve been staying active and my body feels tired at the end of most days. I get out of breath pretty easily but I’m trying to keep up with all the stuff we want to do around here. Jack tells me to rest more and I… sometimes listen.
Preparations
I bought more baby clothes last week, as well as a bunch of the remaining things from my registry, like a changing pad, mattress covers, etc. I also started buying some items for nursing/diaper carts, which I’m going to start setting up this weekend.
Jack and I finished taking the Expecting and Empowered Prepping for Labor & Delivery course, which was excellent and a little overwhelming.
Stories
Ben has become extra insistent about laying on my hip and/or resting his head on my belly when I’m sitting with him on the couch. It’s adorable.
Willis has started following me pretty much everywhere, like he might actually know something is up and I need protecting.
A few times I’ve fallen asleep on Jack and when I woke up, he told me how much baby girl kicked while I was asleep.
